2026 Recruiting: Sara Okeke

While I agree wholeheartedly, if Sara Okeke is looking to maximize the amount of money that ends up in her bank account from playing college basketball, I think she ends up committing elsewhere in a similar way as would happen with the average American prospect who had the same ambitions.
She PROBABLY can’t make any Money playing college basketball in the US on her student visa

Do you watch men's college basketball at all? The number of former European pros coming to America to increase their pay?

Now back to Okeke -- who would be a wonderful fit on UConn. She would fit very nicely on the UConn roster and be a nice pairing with the Big O.

I also happen to think that this is the best atmosphere for her to hone her skills as well. To make the most money in the long term. But I might be a bit biased on that.

That assumes shes on a F-1 visa, by now any international athlete coming to play for a major program should be applying for an O-1 (extraordinary ability) or P-1 (professional athlete, i.e. played for your national team) visa

Imagine a lineup of KK Arnold, Heckel, Blanca, Sarah Strong and Okeke.
Who is Sarah Okeke’s primary recruiter from UConn?

That would be one heck of a defensive unit with all that speed and without sacrificing size along the front the line.

Okeke would allow for a ton a fun different lineups. So much versatility.
Okeke would be a tremendous addition to this ‘26 class

I don't know who Sara Okeke's main recruiter is at UConn. I would advise her to be accompanied by Sarah Strong and Blanca Quinonez, two players who speak Spanish fluently. Having two teammates with whom you can communicate in your native language would be a significant advantage.

Absolutely right!!

Okeke started following several Kentucky wbb signees on Instagram, and vice versa. Wonder if she made a recent visit to UK, or will be soon.

Hopefully she plans on visiting UCONN soon.
Does Sara follow any of the UCONN players on Instagram?

Looks like she only follows Coach Valley. Not sure if there is as much interest as everyone says because I haven't seen Uconn tied to her in awhile, however UConn always seems to keep things pretty quiet with recruiting. If we start seeing her following other UConn players on Social Media, we will most likely know we have some more traction going with her.

Thanks for the update.

“Okeke's physicality is unmatched in the 2026 class. At 6-4, her combination of length, agility and instinct can't be taught, and she's an imposing paint presence who finishes well with both hands and is a fantastic rim-runner. She has made unofficial visits to Indiana, Louisville and Miami, though UConn and Texas are still in the mix. She plans to take more visits after the high school season.”

“It's not a stretch to say Okeke is reminiscent of the Ogwumike sisters, Nneka and Chiney, who played at Stanford, either.” ESPN

Really hope that UConn can gain some momentum with Okeke.

I saw this post on Facebook. I saw a part of this article posted yesterday in this thread.

Sara Okeke: Women’s Basketball Recruit Who Could Outperform Her Ranking

January 29, 2026

SHANE LAFLIN: ESPN – Murmurs about Okeke’s play began this summer after an MVP performance at the FIBA U18 Women’s EuroBasket (13.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, 57% FG through the tournament, including 23 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals in the final), well before she arrived in the U.S. She’s carried that momentum into this high school season, averaging 17 points, 7 rebounds and shooting nearly 70% from the field — and has the recruiting world abuzz.

Okeke’s physicality is unmatched in the 2026 class. At 6-4, her combination of length, agility, and instinct can’t be taught, and she’s an imposing paint presence who finishes well with both hands and is a fantastic rim-runner. College comparison: Madison Francis (Mississippi State), Toby Fournier (Duke)
Okeke moves with such uncommon fluidity for her size, much like Francis and Fournier, who both stepped into productive roles right away. It’s not a stretch to say Okeke is reminiscent of the Ogwumike sisters, Nneka and Chiney, who played at Stanford, either.
