2025 WNBA Regular Season

Barring a big come back, Seattle is going to fall below .500 and Atlanta is going to move 1/2 game ahead of NY, all alone in 2nd place.

How long til Quinn starts to feel some pressure? She's had plenty of talent and her results remain mediocre. She's in her 5th season, so she's not exactly an inexperienced coach anymore.
I was going to say something similar. The Storm have taken doing less with more to a whole new level.

Is Vegas officially becoming a dangerous team? They seem to be putting things together finally. I see Evans started today instead of Bell...

...or maybe it's more about NY on the second night of a back to back, but they've been up and down all year.
We'll see when they roll into Phoenix to take on the million dollar coach's squad.

Great win last night but it is telling how hard they had to work at home against a tired Liberty team without Stewie

I'd say tomorrow night pressure is squarely on the Merc as the million dollar coach matches wits with Becky

Fiery tempers in a meaningless game last night.

One of the participants laid the responsibility on the officials for failing to maintain control.

While frustration is understandable on two really poor teams I would think the players would want to devote their thought, time and energy to improving play rather than placing blame

I see this is another illustration of a prevalent failure of participants in our society to take responsibility for their own actions.

I'm not sure I see it quite the same way. I think what Marsh was (rightly) indicating was that if the officials don't keep a lid on physicality, players will keep escalating and it will lead to frustrations and eventually fights. Obviously he was speaking in defense of his player, but I think his overall point is valid - this will be bound to happen when the refs don't check excessive aggression from the tip.

I certainly can appreciate that point of view.

The ejections yesterday were a failure underneath part of all parties involved.

The physicality and tit for tat that we see in professional sports is reflective of a complex set of factors one of which is consistency and officiating. A second is accountability and ownership.

In one of the games yesterday Britney Sykes made an extraordinarily hard foul on Grey. This was a typical Slim foul but she immediately went over checked on Gray and helped her up. This kind of behavior goes along way I think in my mind to minimize tic for tat. It's also important to realize these two players are of much higher quality, much more successful, and have I think demonstrated throughout their career character.

I think Meesseman is starting to find her footing with the Libs.

I still am kinda befuddled that it didn't work out better for her w/ Chicago the year after they won the Championship. She seemed like the perfect player to add for them. They had a good season but IIRC they stumbled a bit late in the year and didn't go real far in the playoffs.
Emma was not apart of the team the year after they won the championship , everyone on that squad pretty much left lol .

Check again. Won the Title in '21. Brought back Copper, Sloot, Parker, Stevens, Quigley, added Meesseman. Went 26-10 in the regular season but lost in the semis to the Sun. '23 was the mass exodus, not '22.

Anyone know what’s up with Bria Hartley? She seems to be committing excessively hard fouls and getting into feuds with everyone this year.
It's just something about Connecticut. Head coach doesn't seem to matter, it's always the same thing. I thought it would change when AT left...but nope. Carrington was not that player before she arrived, but she went all in. Probably Mabrey was always chippy, but it got worse when she went to the Sun. Sheldon was instantly all in. There have probably been others. Not quite every player subscribes to that style, I don't think ONO has ever joined in. But there are enough examples, it's just a style or philosophy that prevails there even though coaches and players keep changing over.

. . .
From that article: Following the matchup, Sky forward Angel Reese posted, "ARIEL A REAL ONE. BEEN."

I'm befuddled, both what that means (might make some sense in Pennsylvania Dutch*) and why the author of the article decided to put it in.

*Reese grew up not far from there, might have picked some up. 😁

It means Angel thinks Ariel’s a good teammate for sticking up for Allen and having her back after the scuffle with Hartley. “Been” means Ariel’s been a good teammate for a long time.

My guess is the author added it because it would gain clicks when people search her name. The definition of "real one" is typically taken to mean that the person has been supportive from the start. Although, when I used that term on a recent vacation, it was for the bartenders who knew how I liked my "drinks". 😈😁

you are correct i apologize .

Shout out to Saniya! Gotta be tough with her mom's untimely passing, but she's doing her thing on defense at levels not seen in 2 decades by a rookie guard.

ya her defensive talents were projected to be near Jackie Young as a prospect. I wholeheartly believe she will be better on that end of the ball than Jackie heck she may already be better than jackie on the Defensive side of things right now !
