2025 WNBA Regular Season

The second of the back-to-back in Las Vegas will be a clear test for the Liberty.

It'll also be a great test for the Aces.

I'd love to see the data on JJ's performance on the back end of back to back s. There are times I think her energy lags. The short turnaround from LA to LV will certainly test the stamina of the Liberty.

This is a great example of the truism winning on the road is hard and therefore it's incumbent to defend your home court. Having won the first road game I see all the pressure squarely on Becky,Wiilson, and the ACEs to win this.

Often times, a team is running plays specifically for that player to take the shot, or an opponent is playing off a particular player, effectively giving them an open look. If I’m the Liberty, I’m doing everything I can to keep Plum from beating us.

In the other WNBA game last night, Paige lead the Wings in shots, shooting a mediocre 6/19, while both Siegrist & Yueru were hot. Paige also lead everyone in assists with 8 as the Wings got themselves a nice road win against a playoff team.

Each game in the W is something of a puzzle with the coach having to figure out who’s hot? Who’s not? Which lineup do I need on the court. What in game adjustments do I need to make? Etc. That is why they get paid the big bucks….;)

The Liberty only have 8 players right now. Stewie, Burke, and Sabally out, with Harrison on protocol.
 
Is Jackson really a shooter though? 31% from 3 this year, I think 34% last year. Averaging around 4 1/2 attempts behind the arc per game, so 10 was way out of the norm for her.

34% or better is my general cutoff for a capable 3-pt shooter. As you point out, Jackson is a little below that this year. With that said, if she’s open and she’s got the shot, I would expect her to take it if I were the coach of LA.

And Roberts encouraged the three ball -- a lot -- when she coached Utah up to this year. So that reasoning holds.

Agreed. And well one of the greatest players of all time never had an 0-40 streak he would have continued shooting in if he were 0 for39

I think his point in this observation was that shooters need to keep shooting even if they're on a cold streak. I really think this is true and if you stop at 0-8 there's no telling what you left on the table.

Yep, that's why the pressure is squarely on the Aces to win tonight over a short-handed and very tired Liberty squad who arrived in Sin City this morning

I think Meesseman is starting to find her footing with the Libs.


I still am kinda befuddled that it didn't work out better for her w/ Chicago the year after they won the Championship. She seemed like the perfect player to add for them. They had a good season but IIRC they stumbled a bit late in the year and didn't go real far in the playoffs.
 
Is Vegas officially becoming a dangerous team? They seem to be putting things together finally. I see Evans started today instead of Bell...

...or maybe it's more about NY on the second night of a back to back, but they've been up and down all year.
 
Barring a big come back, Seattle is going to fall below .500 and Atlanta is going to move 1/2 game ahead of NY, all alone in 2nd place.


How long til Quinn starts to feel some pressure? She's had plenty of talent and her results remain mediocre. She's in her 5th season, so she's not exactly an inexperienced coach anymore.

From what I saw, I think the missed call started this. If the referees had made the call on the accidental elbow, what happened afterwards could have been avoided. Don't think last night can be considered part of a trend.

I am curious as well. Bria has been a lighter version of DiJonai Carrington this season. She has never been this aggressive.

This whole season she has had some dust up with some players. Her and Skylar. We all know about the Angel situation. Bria got into with one of the Mercury players. It is not normal Bria type stuff we are seeing this season. Some players it is not in her DNA.

Similar to the Fever coming back against the Wings at the tail end of their game. That's such a challenge and a fine margin to keep going, going....miss.

Per your point, Chicago Coach Tyler Marsh:
"(Allen) clearly got elbowed in the face right in front of the ref, and it wasn't called. Then other things ensued. It's unfortunate for us. Two players that play high-quality, high-valuable minutes for us."

Bec Allen is hardly what I'd call a combustible personality. Make the call and this (probably) doesn't happen.

No argument there, but my point is that I don't think last night should be considered as an example. Personally, had the refs made the initial call, I think everything else wouldn't have happened.
