2025 WNBA Regular Season

Great trade for Dallas IMHO, but why Minny? Carrington is "selfish" in the sense that she's like a black hole when she gets the ball. Dribble, drive to the basket, who cares if there are 3 players in front of her, and jack up a shot hoping for a foul. Reeve won't allow that for 1 second. Either Carrington will learn some discipline and team ball, or ride the pine.

Kind of surprised Kurt Miller parted with her. He basically brought her over with him when he moved from LA to Dallas... he coached her when he was with the Sun, and obviously liked her has he went out and specifically wanted her in Dallas. And Karlie is a really solid player off the bench. Anyone have her being a more productive pro than her sister Katie Lou on their bingo card??

Diamond Miller, on the other hand, has great size and athleticism, and has had flashes of great play, but hasn't seemed to be able to put it all together. Maybe new coaching, new teammates, new start will be what she needs. She seems to have all the tools.

Dallas has a great young core now. Rookies Paige, Geiselsoder, Quinnerly, and James. Yeru, Miller, and Siegrist are only 2 years in the league. Even Arike is only 6 years in the W.

TBH lately it seems like Arike is playing much more team ball. Many of us, myself included, were down on her and hoped for a trade. Maybe with stronger pieces, better coaching, and a young team future oriented will get her to play to her potential for team ball.

When I read this snapshot it brought me back to that elite eight game, Baylor v UConn, that turned on exactly such a play in the closing seconds. That’s how Kim taught her, it’s why she left Stanford, it’s a style of play ingrained in her.

PS: thinking about that game, Kim and LeBron whined about how the refs should have called a foul afterwards. Whatever. Refs don’t relish deciding games with a whistle, which is exactly what Kim and Dijonnai were hoping for. And whether there was a foul on that play or not, no WNBA ref would ever whistle it.

And you could tell getting a whistle was the plan because no Baylor player bothered to rebound the miss. Christyn Williams grabbed it and that was all she wrote.

Now, back to your original programming.

I guess the statute of limitations on rehashing sour grapes is longer than 4 years. :p

Carrington will be getting more than Kosu's minutes... she will be getting diamonds minutes, kosus minutes karlies minutes from earlier this season... and giving bridget more of a break each game. i think the teams she has been on the last 2 seasons prove she is a legit 6poy vs. end of bench player.
I agree...wasn't trying to imply she wouldn't get many minutes, just that she was jumping Kosu in the pecking order of the players that remain.

I hope it goes through. The Sun need a makeover.
The WNBA needs to approve the sale, when an owner wants to spend 320 million to move a franchise, and another 100 million for a practice facility in a big Market you take the money.

Same sentiments here. Even if Miller wasn’t working out, Carrington is not the player you bring in:
-Big personality that could disrupt team chemistry
-Not a good 3pt shooter, and the 3 ball is a staple of Minnesota’s offense.
-Isn’t a good passer and doesn’t prioritizes ball movement. Turns the ball over a lot. (Minn is first in the league in assists and A/TO ratio).
-Primarily scores on attacks to the basket which isn’t and has never been a staple in Reeve’s offense

Minnesota also has the best continuity of anyone in the league. Their top 7 scorers were all on the team last year (aside from Shepard who was injured but had played her entire career in Minn) and they have GREAT chemistry. Bringing in Dijonai means you’re bringing in a player good enough to command a rotation spot that will undoubtedly affect team chemistry. Minnesota has been the clear cut best team in the league due to their chemistry. Why on earth are you doing anything to mess with that in the 2nd half of the season?
Hmm. Maybe because even shorthanded, the Liberty were in the game... I think they needed another starter caliber wing with some size who can play defense to spell McBride and Carlton. Against teams like Liberty with bigger and somewhat fast guards, playing Courtney at the off guard for too long is not ideal.

I got no grapes. Paige won that game and Kim lost. :D

But I do feel for Didi Richards who was almost the hero of that game. And she gave flesh and blood for Baylor that season and deserved a better coach. Baylor built a 10 pt lead through the middle of the third quarter almost entirely because of her defensive effort on Paige. They had all the momentum. And as soon as Didi went down with a scary injury, Paige went on a tear and took the game away. Didi is the one who has a right to grapes.

Oh sorry, I meant you rehashing Kim and Dijonai's sour grapes, lol

I thought it was because she was a grad transfer and Stanford doesn't offer that option?

Eh I’m not so sure about this.

They somehow called this a foul last year which cost Minnesota a championship

and here was the Baylor no call which likely cost them a Final Four appearance

I didn't realize NY had lost 4 straight. Won today, huge game for Ionescu.

edit--Meesseman finally made her Liberty debut

Aari McDonald looks pretty good running the show for Indiana today. I've seen people say she isn't really a PG.

Indiana might get a win on the road against Seattle today...with Mitchell not being able to hit anything, and of course no Clark. Howard and Boston have been doing work on the interior and Cunningham is continuing with her recent hot streak.

Malonga is coming along for Seattle. Only 19, she could be really good down the road a bit.

Washington jumped out to a good start against Atlanta...but then it was ALL Dream for 3 quarters.

Why is Seattle all in on shooting 3's, down 3 w/ more than a minute left? Missed 4 straight on 2 possessions, finally got a put back from Malonga to pull within 1.

Seattle missed another 3, this time they needed it to tie in the closing seconds.

Naw. They are showing they have plenty of talent that should be able to win games even without Clark. But she puts them at another level.
I’m not sure the numbers support this take on the situation.

Clark has been in and out of the lineup so much this year, it's kinda hard to get an accurate read on the situation. They start to adjust without her, then she's back and they have to adjust again. I would buy that they are better defensively, but Clark really pushes the pace and they score more. Her shooting has never really come around this season, but if she's been battling leg injuries the whole time that's understandable. I'd still like to see what would happen if she can get healthy and play for several weeks with the rest of the lineup.

Further complicating trying to figure out this team was the whole drama w/ Bonner's here and then gone, disappointing appearance. Cunningham took a long time to get going, but once she finally did it seems like Hull has really faded.

During the All Star break, I heard one of the talking heads say watch out for Atlanta in the second half of the season. They had the easiest schedule among the better teams in the league. They do seem to be surging and are nipping at the Liberty's heels.

No Griner for a few games but they seem to be fine. Hillmon w/ 14/13 as a starter today. How about Jordin Canada? Seattle gave up on her years ago, but she's grown into a pretty darn good PG in the league. I always thought the Storm sold her short.

And they've been doing this without Howard.

I can see you want to make excuses for Clark, and I’m fine with that. But I suspect @The deacon will fault us for it. “You play with whatever circumstances you find,” if I recall correctly.

Not to mention adding in Natasha Howard which took a minute for her to figure out her role. She’s been playing very well for Indiana.

Clark haters will always cling to what they can to diminish her skill and importance. Fact is, Indiana has a very good lineup this year and is still a strong team even without Clark. If Clark can get healthy and the team gets used to her being in the lineup, Indiana will be a major threat

Indiana didn't make the playoffs for what, 7 or 8 years until Clark showed up? They were UNDEBATABLY better w/ her last year. They were supposed to be even more improved this year when they added Bonner, Howard and Cunningham. Almost the whole team has been up and down this year. They've finally got on a bit of a winning streak, but prior to that they were fairly disappointing the whole year with and without Clark. I still think we need to see her back in the lineup/ w Howard and Cunningham both in the flow of things to see what this team really can be.

I gotta say, McDonald is a perfect example of how important “fit” is when determining if someone is going to be a good pro or not. McDonald was waived by LA and likely would’ve been out of the league this year if Clark didn’t get injured. Indiana’s situation with Bonner and Clark’s injury worked out to be a perfect storm for Aari and she’s thriving in her role. We’re seeing similarly great seasons by Veronica Burton and Kayla Thornton who were seldom used last season. With expansion coming up, I’d expect we’ll see a lot of other relatively unheralded players shine if they land in the right situation for the talent to be optimized. Glad to see McDonald having a great season.
