2025 Transfer Portal

Well, the "Westbeld-Miles-Citron" part of the Niele Ivey coaching years is pretty much over...at least at South Bend.
The question is will Kylee Watson, with her connections to former Oregon assistant coach and now TCU head coach Mark Campbell, also join Miles, as rumored. She's also tight with former Duck Maddie Scherr, who -- after a few years at Kentucky -- ended up in TCU.

Won't happen, but wouldn't it be fun if she ended up at St. John's due to a cash infusion from the same alumni who is fueling the guys' program? Her game would fit at Rocky Top, but there's a lot of guards there...would she platoon?
My gut: Auburn or Houston.

Tennessee not shying away from recruiting players with some major red flags. Signed the Pauldo Twins (more so their dad having red flags than the girls), plus UT is apparently in talks with both McMahon and now McMiller. All 4 are extremely talented but I personally wouldn’t touch any with a 10 foot pole if I’m trying to establish a good locker room culture.

I hope UConn has an assistant that is assigned to the portal. I hope we aren’t potentially missed out because our season ran 2-3 weeks longer than everyone else’s.

Highly doubt they haven't been monitoring and dealing with the portal accordingly. If they've already shown interest in Serah Williams during the tournament, it's likely that they've been putting in the work in the background.

I wanted to talk about Garzon transferring from Indiana to Maryland. I don’t know what her reasons for transferring are. But I do think it is a bit awkward to transfer in conference. Maryland is probably playing Indiana next season. I am sure that game is on the schedule. Garzon played three years there and I think made an elite eight with that Scalia and Holmes team. Now she wants to beat that school and that coach?

I couldn’t do it. I would be moving conferences.

I know the common consensus on the BY is that if UConn brings in only one transfer, Williams is that player, and I would be happy to have her. But I think the ideal transfer for UConn is Kneepkens, a G/W who can chase 50/40/90, rebound, pass and fit in very nicely with Sarah, Azzi, Blanca, KK, Ash and the rest of the team.

As much as we would like a post who can score, UConn did pretty well with Jana, Ice and going small with Sarah in the post. In addition, Ayanna’s return gives the Huskies another big who can rebound and play defense next year.

Yeah I agree. Seems like she’d be a really good get. Last year she had 17.8 points on 63.3% FG / 54% 3P, that would certainly help with the gap left behind by Paige

We only have one scholarship available so the need to add a transfer probably isn't a high priority. I am pretty sure that Geno and his staff are happier with Jana’s and Ice's game than many BYers are.
I think it’s more likely that a transfer would contact UConn if they are interested in coming here (but I admit that I have no idea if this is how the transfer portal works).

Assuming ND makes the tournament. They have little left right now.
I'm sure they'll find some competent acquisitions from the portal. Ivey managed to recover from the dumpster fire she inherited, I'm sure she'll recover from this one.

But in the meantime, just a quick recap of recent events:
  • Notre Dame goes from title favorite to imploding down the stretch and whimpering out in the Sweet 16.
  • Most of the roster runs for the hills after said defeat.
  • UConn wins its 12th national title in dominant fashion.
  • Miles transfers to a male-coached team.
So, ex-coach, how are you feeling about this:

Campbell appears to be a young coach who is going to live and die by the transfer portal. That’s a little like walking a tightrope without a net.
Perhaps, however he got Hailey Van Lith and Miles, two players that were considering Oregon before they ultimately chose another program. It looks as if he's targeting the players that he got to know.

We may not need a post that can score, but we could use some posts that can rebound and play defense without fouling.
