Okay...what's happening at Ole Miss? Not sure if any of these were more than role players, but 5 is a bit eye opening. I thought the coach was very well liked.
No clue. There are rumours the program are close to landing two big prospects out of the portal, but this kind of exodus seems odd considering their season.

Here's a quick take - programs that don't over recruit freshmen from the portal will become (hopefully) the destination for players that want stability and a coaching staff that supports and develops them. Yeah, a bit idealistic, I know. I might be a homer, wait, I am a homer, however IMHO, Geno tells players exactly what their role will be in the following year, and it's up to them to prove him wrong, accept it, or in few cases, make a change themselves. Coaches cannot prevent players from looking for greener pastures, especially those that have numerous folks whispering in their ears.

I’ve seen somewhere that Ole Miss is linked to some players currently in the portal. If those names commit, that pretty much erases any opportunities for those leaving.

Ole Miss had 6 transfers on their roster which includes l4 5th year seniors and 1 Senior that was the majority of their playing roster. Coach Yo’s sole focus seems to be bringing in transfers so she has done that pretty consistently starting a few years ago with Shakira Austin. Madison Scott is one of the few if not only player she recruited out of HS who played for 4/5 years for her.
While I am bemused by the Q comments, I don’t think that’s the reason. Coach Yo will regularly bring in talent and the current roster will ride the bench.

Oh dear, Muffet was grumpy because one of her players might not win an award?

I
AM
SHOCKED
I remember Muffett in about 2014 claiming that ND had the best point guard in the country (whose name I can’t recall) and the best player in the country (Brianna Turner), even though ND’s big rival at the time had Moriah Jefferson and Breanna Stewart. She may have been trolling Geno who to my knowledge failed to take the bait and respond.

She was probably referring to Jewell Loyd. As I recall, Jewell Loyd did not play her senior year at ND. Instead she entered the WNBA draft. Additionally, as memory serves me Muffet was furious regarding Jewell’s decision and didn’t even have the common decency to attend the WNBA draft like any other coach to support the player she considered the best guard in the NCAA.

She thought Lloyd was the best player in the country and should’ve won player of the year instead of Stewie

Indiana is just imploding wow. They've already had 5 players transfer out, most benchers, but Meister and Garzon...

Yardini, say it ain't so. These are the type of transfers that kinda hurt my soul but I also get. She plays for a great coach and great program. She's been given a lot of responsibility from the start and had a lot of success. As a team Indiana was pretty great and then the environment for a couple years was one of kind. But they obviously lost their two cornerstones and it may be hard to get back to that level her senior year. Additionally she probably wants to have a shot at playing in the W. It would probably benefit her to play on a top 15 team and put up similar stats, than be on a 8-9 seed type team and up her average to 16 or 17 ppg. It's very similar to a Laila Phelia situation last year. She'd really be good almost anywhere, although her shot selection can be a bit off. A team like Oklahoma would be amazing imo

It is kind of damning that this is her list. What went on at Rutgers?
She was like this before Rutgers. She wants to play for a "lesser" program, or a minor one that isn't very well acknowledged.

Louisville looks like her best bet.

How is this list damning considering she's transferring out of Rutgers who have been struggling to get back on solid footing since Stringer's retirement? Most of these programs were ranked during the season and were competitive this season.

Will Ciezki stick around at Indiana? Looking at pretty much a complete rebuild. W/ Parrish and McNeil-Moore using up eligibility, Garzon in the portal, I think Striplin is out of eligibility. Most of the role players fleeing. Almost nothing there to build around.

As frustrated as I get with players just jumping ship for seemingly no reason, I get even more frustrated at coaches who run players off for reasons that may or may not be good ones.

Ole Miss loses half their team who has no eligibility left and most returners are in the portal. Does Yo plan to just bring in ten new faces? That's called playing pickup or putting together as AAU team, not building a program. The same could be said for many other programs now. I know coaches have always cut players loose for reasons, not all of them legitimate, but to me if the player is actively engaged on the team and progressing academically, then they should not be allowed to discontinue their scholarship just because a shiny new toy is out there.

It sickens me this is happening on both fronts.

This is what I find odd, considering who no longer have eligibility.

Yup...the Ole Miss moves certainly have the appearance of Coach Yo showing these people an one-way open door...out.
As noted, one sees this here and there (even nice guy Kenny Brooks apparently just brushed someone out), but this whole-sale sweep sure seems extreme.
