2025 Transfer Portal - UConn Interest Only

I think the point is that recruiting rankings don't really matter once you're on campus. McNeeley was a hit, Reed was a hit.... Mahaney, Nowell, Abraham were misses. I wouldn't call it a horrible recruiting year if your hit rate is 40%--just not a very good one
Gosh, maybe you should see the success rates at other programs lmao

No one ever saw Abraham but the coaches in practice. We don’t know what he will turn out to be but usually fans get an extended look at a player before calling him a miss. At least we saw Nowell.
To be honest guys- throughout the Hurley era amongst the transfers who left the program haven’t made a huge impact with other teams- hopefully for Nowell & Abraham that changes.

And I'm still not sure I'd call either one of them a "miss", per se. They absolutely could have used meaningful minutes from Nowell at PG, but he was injured twice, and that definitely impacted his ability to contribute and develop. The "transfer portal era" is just a different animal, now. They were both 4 star recruits, but that doesn't necessarily mean you're going to play meaningful minutes as a freshman, and in days gone by, probably not. Now, if you don't, you're out the door. I honestly don't know where or when Abraham was supposed to get in the lineup, frankly.

There was no opportunity for him to show himself. If he proves out at GTown and Alex doesn’t return it will still be a wasted talent . But we will see. Who actually saw what he could do? Players and coaches. That’s it unless someone here was getting into practices.

We haven't been mentioned in a while, but do you think Nate Ament could be holding out for the AK decision. He kind of does some similar things as AK. Or he could be waiting for Cooper to make his decision.

Jonathan Pierre (Belmont,

Liam Murphy, 6'7" 220# W/F from N. Florida (previously Columbia). From Staten Island, NY.

Would be an interesting/potentially valuable bench piece. A bigger "Joey C" type player.

6th man at UNF. Shot 42.3% on a TON of 3pt shots (246!). No idea how his defense is, general metrics aren't great but I have not watched a single UNF game and their KP defense is horrendous (#353) so it may also be due to the whole team!

EDIT: Mods, please feel free to delete/move if not the right thread

His range is incredible

Those highlights make Karaban seem quick by comparison.

No - he’s waiting to see who declares at Duke. High probably he lands there with Tenn the backup.

It’s going to be interesting to sees Dukes team next year as they are bringing a ton of frosh in.

His school is where Tennessee picked up Chaz Lanier so look for the Vols to be the favorite.
After all, who wouldn't want to play for their newly minted genius of a coach who proved this year once again he can win big in the regular season...............

Is there anything behind the Darrion Williams rumors other than the social media follows?

On the surface, it’s kind of funny how similar the box scores averages are

Karaban - 6’8 225, 14.5 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 2.7 APG, 44/34/82 shooting

Williams - 6’6 225, 15.1 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 3.7 APG, 44/33/84 shooting

So Williams is actually a slight upgrade. I would rather have Karaban for continuity, but Williams is not a bad consolation prize.

I don't know about upgrade. He'll probably be a notch up on defense, but is 2 inches shorter. And continuity does matter for winning. Regardless, he'd be a great option if AK leaves

He put up better or equal numbers on a better team in every statistical category except blocks. One of the top 5 transfers in the portal. He’s not a consolation prize he’s a grand prize

IIRC. DW played some spot minutes at Point Forward(at TTU) while resting their PG. Would be a nice addition to our offense re: ball movement within our sets. Obviously AK does a great job based on his passing skills and familiarity with our offense. My point is his ball skills for a forward within our offense would not be a liability. AK still holding the cards.

I like watching these all freshmen dream teams get punched in the throat by a bunch of “old men” during the tournament.

I mean, yeah, he's a a phenomenal player and strictly by the #s a little bit better than AK. I think he has a bit more of a post-up game but doesn't have the traditional PF size.

Is our team better with AK? Who knows. Continuity counts for something and I'd be thrilled to have a loca 4-year player but we'd have just as much talent on the floor with him playing as with AK.

The value of the continuity is definitely high, but it’s at the offset of many of the deficiencies we saw this year. The question will simply be if we put the right roster around him, and slide him back into a more natural role, do we see some of the player we were looking for? Is he past that role and as a 3rd potential option type as a senior? AK is the kind of guy that needs at least two potent on ball types to attract the defense for the pop.
