Fills our quota of a at least one California native on the roster.
Now she can enjoy BBQ sandwiches, chili cheese fries and peanut butter fudge cheesecake milkshakes at 2:30am.... Bet you can't get that in Malibu.

Good post. Don't know why you've been out of commission, but hope all is better or at least trending that way. Good to have you back.Back awhile WBBTakeover said :
Overpaying for players is not "making a big splash". Miami and UVA are bottom half of the ACC teams for a reason (poor coaching, first and foremost)--the players they bought don't move the needle (aren't demonstrably better than the talent they lost, if they are better). Most people here can't name Miami's major acquisitions--because they're not coming from major programs (SMU, UF, and Quinnipiac are not major programs).
Sorry I've been out of commission for a bit so I'm playing catch up. Some things I'd like to point out:
1)There's no evidence to my knowledge that any of these players were "bought".
2)The coaching at Miami wasn't great - I felt they should have won another 5 or 6 games last season which would have made them about a 20-win team and put them on the bubble. Having said that, Z. Spearman, K. Oldacre, Lattimore all hit the portal along with several experienced valuable guards. Additionally, very few coaches have done "great" their first year coaching a P4/P5 program coming from a smaller conference.
3) I'm sure many on here could name several of Miami's acquisitions without any trouble. Stating UF and SMU are not major programs is not a strong argument. I'm sure the people on here could cite many of examples of great players who played for mediocre programs. That's the good side of the portal as it gives those players a chance to showcase their talents at a better program. I'm not saying Miami is a "great" program at the moment but certainly better than those two who accounted for two of their wins last season.
More to the point if a player is a starter on a P4/P5 conference team and plays against other starters at the same level and performs better than most I would consider them a good/better player even if their team is not so good. Isn't that what happened with UCONN picking up Serah Williams from a lousy Wisconsin team through the portal? I might agree with that argument regarding their guard/wing transfers since although they were very good players for their respective teams they are from smaller conferences and don't have much experience going against top tier P4/P5 guards.
4) The Miami coach has learned a lot from season one coaching at the P4/P5 level. That's why she went out and signed 4 Top-100 ranked players in the 2025 class. It's also why she didn't make the same mistake from last year of getting transfers from top flight programs (Michigan and Notre Dame) who weren't starters. Her portal pickups this year were nearly all starters for their previous school and her post player duo is possibly the best post tandem they've ever had.
An up and down off-season for Pierre, as I recall she had considered the portal. Wish her the best of luck.

She can transfer I imagine but won’t be eligible to play![]()
Khamil Pierre dismissed from Vanderbilt women's basketball program
One of the Commodores' two leading stars is no longer with the team.247sports.com
An update on the Pierre situation. The article also states she's unable to transfer this season.
The Pierre situation is kind of a shocker, I know she was considering the portal but ultimately said she wanted to stay. She would have been one of the top 15 players in NCAA basketball next season if she continued her trajectory. For them to dismiss her per the article above is really surprising.
I don't think she was considering the portal. Pretty sure someone on Twitter started the rumor. Her and Vandy came out saying it wasn't true.
She can transfer I imagine but won’t be eligible to play
However, multiple sources — including player agents and coaches around the SEC — told SB Nation that there are loopholes Pierre could potentially exploit to play this upcoming season. One way is to simply transfer to a new school, like any typical student, without having any contact with the basketball staff there. Then, once Pierre is accepted to and enrolled in that new school, she could be added to the roster as a walk-on and — hypothetically — be compensated with funds from revenue sharing made possible by the House Settlement.
Sources also said that the NCAA may be more willing to give Pierre a waiver to transfer and immediately play if Vanderbilt removed her from the team. On the flipside, if it was Pierre’s decision to leave the program, the NCAA is less likely to be empathetic when considering a waiver. The statement from Ralph ambiguously frames which party made the decision, or if it was mutual. However, Vandy247 reported that Pierre was “dismissed” from the team.
If Pierre can find a way to play immediately, a list of potential suitors for her won’t be short.
I suspect someone has been in Khamil's ear. I smell agent.I was surprised to read in this article by Mitchell Northam on SB Nation that there may be a couple of ways in which Khamil Pierre could play this coming season.
Then again, I don't know why anything connected to college athletics should surprise me anymore.
Honestly, I hope that’s what it is. Otherwise it could indicate a serious problem for Shea’s program building — to lose a player of that caliber just when things are looking up.I suspect someone has been in Khamil's ear. I smell agent.
Or it could turn out to be a blessing to her program building, depending on the details that we are not privy to.Honestly, I hope that’s what it is. Otherwise it could indicate a serious problem for Shea’s program building — to lose a player of that caliber just when things are looking up.

Although I'm not sure how she's eligible immediately
What about when she enters Carmichael? If she is immediately eligible, then she will be immediately eligible to receive a tail whupping when her team ventures into Cameron Indoor.
Although I'm not sure how she's eligible immediately

So did Vandy just not come up with whatever NIL they were supposed to? What’s the story?
Honestly makes it more shocking that she wound up in Raleigh considering how the portal has gone for State. Maybe Rev share kicked in and State came through. It’s been pretty well known that State struck out on several players this portal season because they were outbid, didn’t want to overpay or didn’t have the funds (however you want to frame it). And the players they missed out on were not on the same level as Pierre.Report was that she wanted more $ and Vandy didn't have it (or didnt want to give it to her).
