2025 Transfer Portal, part 2

Am I the only one who thinks this is a bad look?

We got overstuffed working dogs, chubby chickens, overweight tigers, too many volunteers... Meanwhile the sisters of the poor over in West Durham have spent this spring striking out like Dave Kingman
Dear Triad, I just love your “enthusiasm”, no matter how you phrase it. The humorous explanation of your annoyance with everyone is always so comically stated, and makes me smile. Keep up the good work!!

Grand Canyon may have completed filling its roster with the signing of Favor.

The silence from NAU is truly driving me insane. I found no announcement about the rest of the coaching staff or any siamese. Currently the roster has two players. I told my wife she may have to suit up for tryouts

Same breed of dog. One from Northern Illinois and the other from Connecticut. I'll let you guess which one is which

I'm done..... For now. Just had to rant somewhere

Guessing N Illinois is the heavy one since UConn runs up and down the court like a fine tuned machine

Not over yet -

Will she have to sit out a year, given she entered past the deadline that enables a player to suit up the following season?

Ah, thanks.
Wouldn't be surprised if this is the next mini trend - players who have to wait for exams and grades before they can officially become grad transfers. The desirable spots may be slim, however if they are looking to get a specific grad degree somewhere and want a head start, then basketball could be secondary. Who knows, maybe I'm just reading into it.

I'm biased, but Duke is a desirable spot. Five open slots available. We can offer a quality education, great weather, great uniforms and proximity to Cookout and it's Double Burgers, corn dog and chili cheese fries with a side of Chocolate Peanut Butter Walnut Milkshake at 3:30 am. Did I mention five spots available?

I cannot imagine the many different “messages” your stomach and abdomen send you after consuming this drink, especially that early in the morning.

Cheerwine float for the side.

The milkshake is for dessert.

@YoDore You feeling any better now?

1) I have never had a milkshake at 3:3O am, just pointing out that you could if you wanted to. 2:15 am is my cut off time for milkshakes

2) History has shown that my stomach is lined with Kevlar. I have the stories to prove it. ;)

No Cheerwine after 9pm, unless you work at night or are a night owl.

If I were a domer, I would crib your endorsement text and amend it just a wee little bit:

I'm biased, but Notre Dame is a desirable spot. Ten or twelve open spots available. We can offer a quality education, crappy weather, garish uniforms and proximity to … Hannah Hidalgo. Did I mention a dozen spots available?

And… we have an Indiana Icon as our mascot.

Totally offsides. This wasn't necessary.

Recovering nicely. I spent last evening learning about Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda and practicing how to pronounce her name. I got the first name down pat. The last name has the melodic ring of a beloved Disney character, but my southern tongue still gets a bit twisted trying to say it. I'll get there.

Did I read correctly that Duke has 10 players right now? Shea went a season with only eight a couple years ago, and, of course, they started dropping like flies. I remember one game when she started with only six and was down to five by the end. Most of the time it worked out OK, though.

My iPhone already auto-corrects to the right spelling of her name, lol.

This is a wonderful pickup for Shea and a perfect partner for Pierre. Next year looks very promising for Vandy.

And by the way, Vic would refer to her as ‘Jak’ in press conferences.

Yeah, I watched and listened to some vids on her last night. It's almost inevitable to wind up with a nickname in sports. I did hear she prefers the full name most of the time because it was given to her by a tribal leader from her mother's home country, the Congo, and it has meaning to her. The first name is actually easy...pronounced jack-el-enga. Still, I'm sure she knows there is no disrespect meant when it is shortened.

I agree she is an important pickup for Shea. She fills a need after the loss of Leilani Kapinus, Jane Nwaba and Jordyn Oliver, not to mention guard Iyana Moore. She'll play a lot.

And Vandy will fit her very well. As you say, she’ll get a lot of playing time. And her skill set will suit Shea’s style of play. She’s a quick, mobile big kid who can put the ball on the floor and drive the lane.

In a way I’m disappointed for Texas, who got a great pair of freshmen a couple years ago in her and Amina Muhammad and now have lost both of them.

Duke made it to the sweet 16 with 10 in the 2023-2024 season. You definitely need good luck with the injury bug with that number….but Lawson has done it before.

Or do you just need a phenomenal performance team?

Duke isn’t the only team in the triangle with just 10 - Wes Moore’s Wolfpack now officially are up to 10 with the signing of Samuels. A huge addition for the mere fact the Pack can now run 5 on 5 scrimmages in practice!

In all seriousness it seems like a solid pick up and came out of left field with no buzz about it whatsoever. State had publicly been linked to maybe 6 or 7 others who all came for visits before choosing other schools.

Based off info ive found online and the scouting reports on BY, I’d expect Samuels to find a role pretty early. State is in dire need of help at the 3 and 4. I’d anticipate her to compete with rising Sophomore Devyn Quigley for starting minutes at the 3. Hopefully brings floor spacing, athleticism and ideally rebounding and defense too, but we’ll see.

State needs to add another piece at the 4 IMO, a physical rebounding defensive minded type.
