2025 Transfer Portal, part 2

Will be interesting to see how Coach Legette-Jack utilizes her on the court.

Unfortunately roster pages for some programs are still a bit dated.
Dominique Darius
Laila Phelia
Sophie Burrows

That's a pretty good trio. I'm not sure where that puts you in a pretty good ACC but it's a start. I hate to be that guy but just wondering with NIL, does that mean she made a certain purse from Texas and most likely will make another purse from Syracuse.

Well...I'm guessing she gets the keys to the kingdom to shoot at will. Syracuse is in a rebuild+ stage....and has been for a minute. Or maybe she has her eye on a degree from Maxwell or Newhouse.

Syracuse is such a strange choice for Phelia; not sure if she has a connection to the area or coaches.

Just read on another forum that Laila's significant other is a Longhorn football player (from Dallas) who transferred out of Texas to Washington in December/January. He only lasted there a few months and a week or so ago announced that he will be transferring to . . . Syracuse . . .

Hopefully if Laila is healthy, just let her play.
Agreed, however I still think other programs could have been a better fit. There was chatter that Minnesota was in the running. Adding her veteran leadership to that team would have been great for both parties in my opinion.

Now, per the previous post, it sounds like she wanted to be closer to her boyfriend. That's also understandable.

Could have a point. A glance at her Texas bio says: "Major is Communications and Leadership."
If so, she went to one of the right places to further that interest.

I'll withhold plaudits for Ms. Darius, who has not gotten running in her college career up to this point.
Burrows can stroke it. Right now, I think Sophie and Laila pretty much have carte blanche to take lead.
BTW, there's NIL $ at the 'Cuse: they've paid to bring in QBs the last two years, so maybe some of that slipped over to WBB.

That's a trio that could maybe help Syracuse to a 9-9 record if they're able to click early. The Orange went 9-9 in the ACC with a much, much better lead guard a few seasons back. They do have a good coach, so I'll give them that much.

To win in the ACC, you have to have (1) athleticism and (2) continuity (players, not necessarily staff). A little luck also helps.

Ok portal gurus - if you transfer and sign, but don't play yet, are you allowed to undo it and go back to your original school without sitting out a year? I'm so confused ....
I believe you can as long as you haven’t started a semester at the school. The transfers are “locked in” once they start summer school at their respective schools. At least that’s my understanding.

Could it be a situation that was admissions related? Hagemann committed to Ole Miss but had to change course due to academics, last season. I also recall Mimi Collins having to transfer because she wasn't accepted for a grad school program at Maryland.

My bad I thought this was another U Washington commit that played with Avery Howell. I still think this is a 2025 4 star player though

Yes this is a high school recruit from somewhere in Ohio.

You can go anywhere else, too. Transfers don't sign LOI's; they sign ASA's (athletic scholarship agreements) which I believe are non-binding. Esmeri Martinez did the same thing to LSU a couple of years ago and ended up at Arizona.

This is an interesting plot twist in the Big 10 off seas

:):):):):):). Brings a smile to my face

The resentment from Maryland's defection remains strong I see. Don't ever change my friend. ;)
It kind of makes sense. Brenda is like the anti-Blue Devil: recruit over your HS recruits, treat the portal as a revolving door, give your players the green light to make their own offense, make defense optional, and watch your players have 10x the professional success of your former rival down in Durham.
