Crazy jump if that’s true….wowHe was only throwing 89-90 in college. Supposedly he only started hitting 100 this year.
It’s a curve ball. It’s not new. They just made up a cute new name for it.It’s not a new pitch. Over the years it’s been called a curve, slider, slurve or breaking ball. Just a new name attached to a pitch that breaks. Also, if you take 5 different pitchers and have each one of them throw a curve or slider, they will break differently because of speed, grip, arm angle, etc.
I always thought a sweeper is a slider. Do they still call a 12-6 curve a curve ball? And who started calling it a sweeper? I'm so confused. It’s a curve ball. It’s not new. They just made up a cute new name for it.
Split-fingered fastball (splitter) is still extremely common. They used to use split fingered fastball and circle change more too.
It's actually a seam shifted slider. It’s a curve ball. It’s not new. They just made up a cute new name for it.
All sweepers are sliders but not all sliders are sweepers.I always thought a sweeper is a slider. Do they still call a 12-6 curve a curve ball? And who started calling it a sweeper? I'm so confused.
A pitch you never see anymore is the screwball as famously thrown by Fernando. I know that was tough on the arm. They used to use split fingered fastball and circle change more too.
A screwball being "tough on the arm" may be more myth than reality. Mike Marshall threw a screwball more than 40% of the time. And is there any pitcher who studied mechanics more than Marshall, who famous once relieved in 13 consecutive games?A pitch you never see anymore is the screwball as famously thrown by Fernando. I know that was tough on the arm.
At least they beat the Red Sox. They have been flawed all season but it’s nice to take that into the winter.Good riddance to the Yankees.

I honestly didn't expect either team to make the playoffs. Yankees have wasted the greatest hitter of his generation by not getting a great manager and the right players surrounding him and the Red Sox have been putzing around since their last World Series. I did enjoy Schlittler having a historic pitching performance but the Yankees getting knocked around by the Blue Jays doesn't surprise me at all.Definitely gotta make all that cash feel well spent. I didn’t have any particular expectations for this Red Sox team but a roster loaded with guys who were in Pawtucket this season being competitive with the Yankees isn’t exactly something to make you feel great heading into the offseason.
No they are unhappy unless they win it all. But Red Sox fans all tell me they just wanted to beat the Yankees. Sorry it didn’t happen for you.Just asking for a friend, do the Yankees put up a banner for beating the Red Sox?
Hal is happy with just making the playoffs it will get Boone and Cashman extensions. Hal could care less about the Yanks playoff failures. No they are unhappy unless they win it all. But Red Sox fans all tell me they just wanted to beat the Yankees. Sorry it didn’t happen for you.
Unconvincing.Hal is happy with just making the playoffs it will get Boone and Cashman extensions. Hal could care less about the Yanks playoff failures.

Congrats. Hope that makes you sleep better. At least they beat the Red Sox. They have been flawed all season but it’s nice to take that into the winter.
And the Sox dominated the Yanks during the regular season. So what? That’s a pretty low bar you are setting, especially for a team that outspends everyone this side of the Dodgers. No they are unhappy unless they win it all. But Red Sox fans all tell me they just wanted to beat the Yankees. Sorry it didn’t happen for you.
Slight correction. I know you’re on West Coast and may not care but Red Sox AAA moved to Worcester MA in 2021.Definitely gotta make all that cash feel well spent.
