2025 MLB Playoffs Thread

Get over it and I'm a Yankees fan, you should be mad at Cashman and Hal.
Springer was awful in the Yankees series that year. Like 1-30 awful. Wasn’t til the World Series (in LA) that he came alive. There was talk about dropping him in the order before he went yard in extra innings.

I am a Yankees fan, too. I have no animosity toward Toronto. I will pull for them against the Dodgers.
The Yanks have to have more variety besides being feast or famine approach with HRs. Hank wants the profits but doesn't necessarily care about winning titles like his father. George definitely had his flaws for sure, but no one could question his desire to win.

Right in fact the Astros lineup was shutdown for most part in that series, the Yankees really struggled to score that's what lost them the series. The Dodgers probably had more of a gripe as far as Astros cheating helping but whatever it's been how many years now.

You know Springer could've been a Yankee btw, maybe he would've have but Cashman never bothered to offer him a deal because of the Aaron Hicks being under contract still.

Just an amazing bounceback season for Springer. He was flat out bad last season and people wrote him off. After Judge and Dumper he was the third best player in the league this season. He took the fastball off his kneecap and it looked like his season was probably over. He tries to stay in the game but as he headed back to the dugout he could barely walk. Now he hits the 3 run home run to put his team in the World Series at 36 years old.

I think I start Mad Max in game 1, let him go all out hold nothing back it's the Dodgers. While you do favor the Dodgers, their lineup hasn't gone crazy maybe the long break can throw off their rhythm at the plate we'll see.

It's not crazy, but he probably needs another 3-4 years like this one to really get in the conversation. Which might be tough entering his age 36 season
It would be near impossible at this point. He'd need to average 5 WAR over the next four seasons to enter the conversation.

I don’t think Hank cares as much about profits these days bc he’s been dead for 5 years but Hal definitely just sees dollar signs. Goal every year is to fill the stadium in the regular season, sneak into the playoffs, jack up ticket prices even more and hope their ‘home run or nothing’ approach leads to a title in October.

Anyone else a bit surprised Vlad got the series MVP over Spring? Spring had better run producing numbers across the board, and the game winning hit in Game 7. Vlad had a better series average. When do they cast this vote?

I thought it was between the two of them and it could have gone either way. Vlad’s batting average and defense probably helped him especially the 3-6-1 double play in game 6.

Vlad Jr. has had an awesome playoffs but if you were watching baseball for the first time and just listened to the announcers this playoffs you would think he carried the Blue Jays this season and is easily a top 3 player in all of baseball.

George had a good amount more runs & rbi's, as well as a pretty clutch 3 run homer in the 7th inning of game 7 to win it. I have a hard time understanding how it doesn't go to him. Vlad had 10 hits to Springers 8, same amount of extra base hits. George 7 runs to Vlad's 6 and 7 RBI's to Vlad's 3. And that's out of the leadoff spot. Puzzling.

The amount of time it took you to type this post is more time than any voter took. 90% of voters went no deeper than their star player had a great series, he gets the MVP

Springer was their star player this season and just hit the three run home run to put them in the World Series.

If your point is voters are lazy I would agree.

That is my point, and to 99% of fans Vlad is their star player. He's the guy they just signed to a $500M contract and is the face of their franchise.

I think we agree.

One guy is 26 and the other is 36, so yes the younger star is getting the enormous 14 year contract and has the much better future. If you watched the playoff games and post games they're pretending not only did Vlad Jr. have the best season for the Blue Jays and carried them but he's a top 3 player in baseball. He's had an awesome playoffs but the narrative doesn't fit the reality. Springer had the best season for the Blue Jays, did most of the heavy lifting, and his last two months of the regular season were historic.

Vlad did have these stats. Personally, I would have given award to George but it was close.

Vlad led the ALCS with a 1.330 OPS, tied for the lead with 10 hits and bashed three home runs.
