2025 McDonald's All American Roster

Outstanding. The program is sure to get mentions frequently during the game. And maybe that stud transfer portal point guard is watching and says “I want to be part of that.”

This stuff tends to flywheel. Top kids watch and hear Uconn, helps build the brand. More top kids will follow. Turn some of these kids into NBA studs and bing boom, the machine is in motion. Need to seize the day while it’s here before all this conference bs pushes in the other direction.

Nada, seems he’s got a short list of about 4. I believe it’s Duke, ND, Tenn and perhaps Ville. Fairly random assortment.
In the article I linked in the post it says he gave a list of 11 schools when he announced his Fanstake NIL deal a couple weeks ago. He says he has visits to Duke and Kansas State set up. Did you see somewhere else that the 4 schools you mentioned are the real contenders? Tough to have a "real" list of 11 schools at this point.

Can’t remember where I saw it. Might have been an On3 update on the leaders.

Looking at the roster...do any of these kids go to real high schools? Looks like most of them are at prep academies, which as far as I know are just factories for athletics. IMG has been around for quite a while. There's one or two around Las Vegas that used to be like that, but most of these institutions I don't even recognize the names of.

What a strange post. There’s a handful of basketball factories on that list but the vast majority are normal schools.

I think Rabbe's HS, Bullis, is a "real" school in that it's not just purely a school focused on churning out college athlete prospects. Though not like Bullis doesn't churn out elite athletes too (Quincy Wilson, the 16-year old that made the summer Olympic team, attends Bullis).

For multiple reasons, I mess with IMG. Otherwise I’m not a fan of the big bball factories, but I get the value.

The spread wasn’t too bad this year, multiple “normal” schools but handful of factories too, as @BigErnMcCracken said.

It's one of the more well-known prep schools in the DC area. It's definitely a "real school."

The thing I don't like is how so few basketball prospects go to public school anymore. I always loved the public school game, especially the city game. Watching city rivals with high major kids go at it was always awesome, there's really no atmosphere like it.

Now it's private schools and these basketball academies where the crowds don't matter.

There's only like 5 kids on those rosters who play public school.

The pitch for these prep academies is simple: you want to play in the NBA some day? Think you got the stuff? You gotta show that vs the others in your cohort unless you think [Town name High School] will get you into the top 10.

These academies are not academic illiterate though - I live in a city where 4 public high schools average 6-8% college readiness in math and science. That's like 95% of them are not literate. So these academies have cash for travel, coaches, and check-the-box STEM courses. Liam went to Montverde and gives an understandable interview.

Wow, I'm surprised. Adams and Reibe were borderline guys and we've never had those kind of prospects make the game. Not that they didn't deserve to make the game but I think the UConn name is now carrying a lot of weight.
Does this make it the single best recruiting class in UConn history?

Based on ratings/paper, I'd say so. You do have a class that included Gordon/Emeka, who weren't burger boys but top 5 draft picks.

The class that always stands out in my mind was the JC grab back in the 90s. That was a big one as it was one of JC's first truly national classes. Three of those guys were from the west coast.

Kevin Ollie
Brian Fair
Donny Marshall
Donyell Marshall
Boo Willngham

Also a class that included:

Charlie V
Marcus Williams
Josh Boone

Probably could have had a 4th if we wanted. This kid is going to be interesting to watch play out.

You have to be an American or Canadian to make this team, otherwise the Furfinator would surely be on it.
