2025-26 New school commitments by Transfers

Sometimes you win by losing. When the Lions lost in the Ivy Tournament, they were relegated to the WBIT, which they won, the first tournament Columbia has ever won in their history. With a championship in hand and the Ivy League POY (Weiss) returning, Morningside Heights has become an attractive place for at least one transfer and hopefully others.
I'm thinking returning home to NYC and playing for Columbia will give Stevenson a lease on life. She admitted that things didn't go for her as planned on the basketball court at Stanford. Maybe being back in Manhattan will unleash the swagger that made her city star in high school and a frosh starter at Purdue (she was by far the best Boilermaker on the floor when they played the Irish that year). She should be an old-fashioned power forward, but in the Ivy League, she could become a center.

Not a lot of size in the Ivy’s. This past season Columbia’s starting forwards went 6’1, 5’11 & 5’11. I was surprised at how well they battled the Bigs from Cal, Wisconsin & BYU in winning the WBIT. Unfortunately, they are all graduating,

But Coach Griffith has more than filled the void. Along with Stevenson, she recruited Columbia’s first ever ESPN top 100 player, 6’1” Mathis Dritz from CA, rated 87. Dritz is a talented wing who can shoot it. Dritz and Stevenson will be part of a pretty formidable frontcourt for the Ivies, and they’ll match up with a talented backcourt led by Weiss. There’s going to be a lot of excitement next season at Levien Gymnasium. 😁

My biggest concern is that some P4 team will finally recognize that Megan Griffith is one of the best young coaches in WBB and make her an offer she can’t possibly refuse. She’s a Columbia grad and the University has more than enough financial resources to match anyone else’s offer. But Columbia has some funky policies about how much they pay coaches relative to full professors.

Just shooting from the hip here. The more I see who exactly is in the portal and who UConn has coming in as well as coming back, I’m not quite sure if Geno is all that interested in bringing in a transfer. Looking at the following:
  • GUARDS: Ash, KK, Kayleigh, Allie, Kelis, Jovana
  • WINGS/FORWARDS: Sarah, Blanca, Morgan, (Ash in a small lineup)
  • CENTERS: Jana, Gandy, Olivia, (Sarah in a small lineup)
While I’m not suggesting that UConn can not bring in a talented player or two from the portal, if we assume that every player currently on UConn’s roster will improve between this past season and next season, what exactly are you going to get from a player with similar talent?

If he doesn’t bring in someone, Jordan Lee is a really good 2 guard which is a need. She’s got a little attitude and plays defense and can score, and we need I think less so, an athletic rebounding 4. We may be able to get away with the bigs we have, I think if we don’t add in a defensive minded 2 guard with a little size and athleticism, expect a repeat of this year. Great year, but not quite enough to win it all.

You make a good argument. I was thinking if Morgan is back healthy, she could play the 2. But that’s not really her spot. So yes, I’ll concede that a talented, athletic guard with some size would be a good addition.

Sounds a little like Paige………..

Did Wisconsin all of a sudden decide to allocate NIL for their women's hoops players? They allocate a lot for their women's volleyball players.
They did, but I've heard a few people say that Deal's dad asked for a lot of money at places that will pay it...and she didn't get it.
Hence, Wisconsin?? She'd really better tear it up.

Brandon Clay is usually pretty reliable. I don’t know about the upper echelon agency. Maybe they are Addie’s agent

Thanks. I'm just having a hard time imagining her falling that far. Wisconsin is not a good WBB program. Not like Deal looked anywhere near her HS recruit ranking but still thought someone would take a shot at her that was better than a bottom tier P4 team.

Here's hoping it Stanford, and that offer is happening like NOW!
