I don't care if he upset a ranked team... The fact there was a stabbing incident in his locker room between his players should automatically disqualify him.

We had a player stabbed on campus. Was that the coaches fault? How could they have anticipated that something crazy like that would occur.

He stabbed his teammates, in the locker room on game day. It's not even close to the same situation.

Are more coaches playing musical chairs than usual this year? Feels like an all-time high. Or maybe it's just that I'm paying more attention because of our own situation.

It does feel like an all time high. The farther we get into the NIL/portal era, the more chaos there is.

That incident was largely attributed to the culture issues leftover from Dilfer's leadership (which at that point had ended less than a month earlier). He was the only member of UAB's athletic leadership to face reporters, while the AD effectively dodged facing questions as much as possible (at least that's the take I saw from UAB fans). The optics are still pretty bad though (and that's probably why he's lobbying for the job rather than just being named to it)
