I'd add lack of composure as well. They let the crowd and the environment get to them, further exacerbating their execution and decision making issues.

She hadn't taken a lot of shots until late in the game. I had the boxscore up and she had taken only 4 shot attempts by the end of the third. Considering the situation, I'm surprised that Duke didn't try to force the ball inside more when WV was left with 5 players.
 
I think Duke will be fine and Lawson is doing well but I can't say there seems to be an obvious reason why they should be struggling so much early this year.

Still love Duke’s non-conference schedule this year. Wish more teams scheduled challenging early season games.

Their offense is a struggle. I don’t think kara has ever had a good offensive team.

WV could not make anything down the stretch. If Fournier hit just one of those layups that could've flipped it.

A week? For a moment I was already out on this season and focused on 2026-27. 😣😟🙁

I actually didn't see the game, and that was probably for the best. I was following gamecast on my phone while driving 75 mph on Interstate 85. Not the smartest thing, but I never claimed to be smart 😒

Actually its probably my fault for the Fan Karma. I was in WV a few months ago, and was at the New River Gorge Bridge. While walking back up the stairs, I passed some Mountaineer fans with their WV gear on. I was giving them the eye and taunting them (in my head) about the arse whipping that was coming to them in November. 😞😖 Little did I know... 😩

The good news is that while Duke is batting .000 when playing in neutral ballroom sites, they don't have another such game on their calendar this year. Stick to gyms and pavilions and hopefully it'll be all good. 😂

if that happens (which i doubt), will the US National team will choose another coach?
 
The wife and I just got home from Tampa and the USF game.

USF kicked Duke's butt from the tip off. 85 - 72 the final. And it really wasn't that close.

USF ran the floor from start to finish, pushing the tempo the entire game. Pushing it up on offense set Duke back on their heels. Very good ball movement for USF led to a lot of layups and a high shooting percentage. The also controlled the boards.

Not really impressed with Duke after tonight.

USF is good. They could give UConn ome fits. They have 2 good guards in Edyen Battle and Stephane Inghram.

I agree with all but your last observation. USF did dominate from the 1st period to the end and Duke is not playing team ball at all. They have absolutely zero cohesion on the offensive side of the ball. Kara needs help and needs to admit it.

USF will not give UConn any fits. They are significantly smaller than us and don’t shoot nearly as well. I’d be shocked if USF could keep the game within 20 points. I liked how they looked tonight but just because they beat a badly coached Blue Devil team, don’t confuse that to think they can truly hang with the Huskies.

I am happy Duke is playing much better now and with the ACC not looking so great, Duke will be right in the mix for the title. Right now I put it as Louisville, NC State, ND, Duke, UNC as the top 5 but @triaddukefan ad better make me happy by beating ND....

I'm putting ND as 5th place, mostly because of present talent and also lack of depth. Their little AA guard can only do so much.

They are nowhere to be found, which is where they should be given their irrelevance (and incompetence) this season. If Louisville continues to grow, this could be their year to win the ACC going away.

The fight is on for second best in the ACC. Luckily, Duke is one of the more talented teams in the ACC. It appears that the traditional powers (UNC, ND, and NC State) all have warts. Also, it appears that the teams that were supposed to show marked improvement (Stanford, UVA, Miami) aren't really that good.

The most impressive stat that I saw was that in the past 5 games, Duke has had 5 different leading scorers.

I'm a bit concerned over Riley Nelson. Seems that she has a dislocated finger on her left hand......once she left the game, she didn't return.

Duke is looking much improved, can they rise to a top 4 seed as the year continues? There are a slew of teams in the 20-30 range in the ACC ranks (Duke, UNC, Notre Dame, Stanford, NC State) and only Louisville is top 20 (currently #10).
