I’ve watched a lot of App football the last 3 years (daughter is a Jr there), and they’ve lost games in just about every way possible, with a few nice wins sprinkled in (an 11-0 James Madison team last year, a bad A&M team two years back). So he was trending in the wrong direction. In that case, I commend the school for doing now, what will have to be done eventually anyway.
Clark was considered a safe pick (as an App alum and OL coach it was his dream job) for a program whose last 2 coaches were poached by the P5. Unfortunately, the last 3 years were plagued with bad D, head-scratching play calls on O, and a penchant for a fumble, blocked kick or bad penalty at just the wrong time. Buyout was $500k effective today, he had two years left.
