He is a great coach. Great get for UMass, good for Northeast football.

All that said -- I hope he really understands what he's getting into before he signs on that dotted line.

Joe Harasymiak is only 38. From Jersey, played at Springfield College, coached at Maine, Minnesota, Rutgers. He was at Maine when UMass was in the MAC. I'm sure he is very familiar with UMass and the Northeast. Sounds like a great opportunity as they head back to the MAC.

How do we compare? Does anyone know?
If the tweet is correct, and it may include all coaching salaries and/or all support staff, the UMass assistant coaches salary pool will be above UConn's and close to the highest in the G5 and over double the MAC average. In 2023, UConn's assistant coaches pool was ~$1.9 million. With Mora's salary included, UConn's football coaching salary pool is close to $3.7 million.

Seeing UMass' miscommunication over the past couple of weeks, I would be skeptical of Thamel's numbers.

That would be crazy. Do we know how our NIL compares?

Going forward, the issue is not NIL but revenue sharing as revenue sharing should be bigger than NIL for most schools and we don't know UConn's revenue share plan.

Amherst campus is so beautiful too. It can be a real selling point. Was for me when I was applying to grad schools.

Do you know that UMass Amherst is consistently rated one of most ugliest college campuses.

13. University of Massachusetts Amherst

Year Built: 1970 (Founded: 1863)

Key Architects: Various, including Marcel Breuer, Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, Kevin Roche, Edward Durell Stone, and Gordon Bunshaft.

Architectural criticism is nothing new to the University of Massachusetts Amherst. In 1974, the Boston Globe's architecture critic, Robert Campbell, called the campus "a jumble of unrelated personal monuments that look more like a world's fair grounds than a campus." We guess that's one way to say "disjointed," but the school is still made up of a variety of concert buildings, dark subterranean spaces, and clinical architecture, so Campbell may not have been far off.

UCF has 'reportedly' reached out to Lincoln Riley to gauge his interest in their vacant head coaching position.

If USC fired Riley today, it's rumored (USC doesn't report publicly) that his buyout is around 90MM.....however I don't for a second doubt that USC's new president and AD would LOVE to get out from under his contract. I'd be curious how much UCF would have to pick up for them to pull the trigger.....maybe half? 60%?

Riley has almost single handedly annihilated SC's local recruiting presence and so far has been unable to make good on his strategy of recruiting within the SEC/B10/ACC footprint. He's also done a terrible job coaching the team now that he doesn't have Williams and Addison to bail him out. Plus, I don't think he anticipated that he'd be competing in the Big 10 when he signed and is now quite frankly in way over his head. I'd think that if a settlement could be worked out he would not mind saying 'peace' and hopping on the next flight to Florida or wherever.

SC has a ready made replacement on staff in their DC D'Anton Lynn who would probably at least do a better job recruiting as he is sui generis Southern California.

Wow. Pretty solid hires by both Temple and UMass - not what I was hoping for but good for NE football.
