2024 Coaching Carousel gets an early start…

Agree. Of all the candidates I have seen potentially listed for UMass, the only one that bothers me is Harasymiak.

He is a talented up and coming coach who I thought would have been a decent fit at UConn before we hired Mora.

He’s a talented up and coming coach and that’s why he will avoid the job like the plague.

Don Brown is a UMass football luminary. If they won’t give him some leeway why would they grant it to anyone else?

They will end up with someone who wants a HC job badly and is really willing to roll the dice.

A better comparison for Deion is Jim Harbaugh. Different skin colors, different styles, and slightly different personal situations, but both former NFL players who started coaching at FCS (Jackson St and San Diego), went to mid-tier power schools (Colorado and Stanford) before heading to the pros (if Deion ends up with the Cowboys).

I'm not a fan of either guy but I appreciate that they both worked their way up.

They could get Urban Meyer and I wouldn't worry about them.

The difference between UMass and UConn is us. We have a much larger support base and it isn't even close...
UMass should get relatively better once they join the MAC. It's more money for their AD than they're etting now and they won't have 8 absolute blowouts every year.

There are pros and cons to that schedule, though. They might not be able to get a many "pay days" from visiting the SEC and others once they have a proper conference schedule.

But even if it's additional money, it's not a lot more. From what I've read, it's about $2 million per year tv money. We get about 8 million from the Big East (if I'm correct about the contract) and an additional 0.5 million from CBS football.

So...a much smaller contract plus a much smaller fan base = I'm not worried about UMass...

There is no "i" in team but there is one in Deion.

The odds on him returning to Colorado are pretty slim. And if he does, it's unlikely he will have much success with out his son.

He would love to go with his his son to Vegas. I would love to see it just for the entertainment value. It should be a sh%t storm.

Good point. But a better UMass does nothing but help UConn with a rival we can play every year and a competitive game brings eye balls and butts in the seats.

Man I know the national conceit is that Lincoln Riley's buyout makes him unfireable. But his '25 class continues to get hammered with decomits to the point where he's trending on bringing in the worst class the Trojans have had in years, worse than some of the Clay Helton pulls.

I wish him the worst

Who decommitted? 247 still has their class as 13th in the country.

Fired college football coach's wife takes bitter swipe at former school's roster

The wife of former UMass head coach Don Brown has blasted the school's decision to fire her husband after pointing to its astonishing lack of NIL money compared to other teams.

Yet while he departs with a poor 2-8 record this season, Brown's wife Deborah has fumed that her husband was actually performing miracles with the roster at his disposal after claiming UMass's roster falls well below the NIL value of its rivals.

She wrote on X: 'The combination of NIL money of the teams UMass played this season is a combined $48,798,653 million dollars to our $36,000. And we played how many teams so close?!'

One user replied: '360K did you mean? Has to be more than 36K.'

But Deborah confirmed: 'Correct amount !'

Other fans were left in disbelief after the NIL revelation, with one writing: 'Yeah that was a impossible situation'.

Another said: 'NIL in its current form is ruining college athletics... UMass will always be UMass and never win anything meaningful... but this disparity is just gross'.

While one simply posted: 'Coach Brown is a wizard!!'

Hot damn! UMass's NIL is underfunded by over 2 orders of magnitude compared to their rivals. If what Deborah Brown posted is right, each of their opponents has on average 5 million in NIL. This is like asking CCSU to play at FBS level while only having FCS budget. Brown was in an impossible situation, and he deserved better (he knew what he was getting into, but he still deserved more support from the AD).

How would she know how much other schools are spending in NIL? She got their tax returns or something?

Seems like a distraction tactic to me considering UMass went 0-5 versus the MAC this year and are 6-28 over the last 3 years with only 2 FBS wins.

The schools are not spending any $ on NIL
All nil comes from individuals or collectives

Four star offensive lineman, which is really big for SC because their lines are a disaster.
