Ok, so I occasionally watch CFB, but am not an expert on athletic dept budgets, contracts, etc, so here's my question. Fisher will reportedly get $76 million (!!!) if he's terminated. At some point, will schools step in and make the termination conditions in contracts much more realistic?
The buyout money at TAMU will come from boosters. It won’t cost the school any money

I like it, except for the fact that statutory regulations prevent anyone named Jimbo from advancing north of Carolina/Tennessee.
Jimbo Covert disagrees.

As much as we tend to hire up-and-coming/less experienced position coaches, I hope we can sprinkle in some more experienced position coaches with a good player development track records. We need a bunch of those on our staff so hopefully we add a couple in the next handful of months as other staffs turn over during carousel season.

Do they pay Jimbo the buyout or try to weasel out if it and take it to court?

Jimbo's buyout is fairly iron clad...Jimmy Sexton is a very experienced agent...no performance clause...he reps 11 of the 14 SEC coaches...NFL stars. etc

As Orgeron said, leaving LSU when fired..."Just tell me when to leave and what door to go out of".

Since there is no mention of misconduct...A&M has no basis to go to court...they knowingly, with legal advice, entered a contract and even extended that contract.

Well that is usually the case. Anyone can make claims and try to weasel out.

From ESPN.com: Texas A&M athletic director Ross Bjork on Sunday night said that the decision to fire football coach Jimbo Fisher earlier in the day was his and that the program was "stuck in neutral."

If A&M is stuck in neutral, we are stuck in park!

I don't think any professional sports team has ever found itself in this situation. How does anyone compete with a program that is willing to do things like write off $150 million to coaches it doesn't want anymore?

You don’t/can’t - the only hope is to keep the wheels on the bus rolling till it all blows up and the remaining schools reorganize into something sustainable.

That seat for Franklin is getting real hot too. When you can't beat OSU or UM every year, there's nothing else you can do to make it any better. I kind of feel like PSU is stuck in neutral.
