Not enough has been said about Crawford scoring from 2d on Brown’s infield single. How did that happen? Because Crawford’s lead was almost halfway to third before the pitcher started his motion, and was well more than halfway to third when the bat hit the ball. That was the kind of play we would have given up at the start of the season, not the kind of play we would have made.

I agree with @UConNick. I would think Polonia would be available again to pitch on Sunday. The big key tonight is to get a good and lengthly outing out of Casparius tonight. The better he does, the better shape UConn's bullpen will be in for Sunday.

So you're going to stick with this is someone else's fault even after people point out it's not? Hint -- papers have early editions and late editions, especially for Sunday when all the sections have to be assembled. The further out from Hartford you are, and more true for home delivery, the earlier the cut off for late breaking news or sports that can be included.

All of these games were night games. UConn's game IIRC went past ten. Fairfield's went past 11. If you expected stories in the early edition of a Sunday paper, that's on you, not the paper. You should know to check online for stories past the deadline.

I agree, the number one thing is getting the win. But I still see Casparius as a big key to how this whole regional shapes up for UConn. If he can give UConn 7 quality and effective innings, the UConn bullpen is in much better shape for the rest of this regional. I am not advocating he stay in if he isn't effective, but if Casparius isn't effective, then UConn has some trouble on its hands.
