2020 Recruiting Thread

Don’t believe I’ve seen it posted anywhere else, but Defensive Tackle James Mitchell out of Duncanville, TX was on campus this weekend. Holds 20 offers including a slew from P5 schools.

We offered back on May 12th. Here’s what he had back then. He’s added a few since.

James Mitchell is a 6-1 270lb DL from Duncanville High School in Duncanville Texas. Other offers from Alabama A&M, Arkansas, Colorado, Colorado State, Grambling, Kansas, Louisiana-Lafayette, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Texas, Tennessee State, Texas State, Tulane, Southern University, Vanderbilt and BC

6-1 308lb OL Derick Calixte from Gatineau Canada (Western Quebec) attending IMG Academy.

Gatineau is basically Ottawa. There’s a river & a bridge separating this decent sized city from the federal government.

Javonte Kinsey is a 6-5 200lb WR from Sandalwood High School in Jacksonville Florida. Other offers from Bowling Green, Campbell, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Colorado State, Coastal Carolina, ECU, FAU, FIU, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Troy and UAB.

Offered by UConn back in January (he only had the BGSU, Cincy and FIU offers back then).

Kinsey committed to Bowling Green after official visit this weekend (BGSU was his second offer after FIU). Took official to UConn last weekend.

These kinds of commitments are really discouraging. What's it going to take to turn these kids into UConn recruits? Wins?

A competitive program w/ a buzz to start with...

... some kids are just going to want to head out of state despite best efforts (especially when it’s an ACC v. AAC choice in reasonable driving distance).

Dixon was from Glastonbury

Some things are simple. The parents are going to know each other ... and UConn HCRE 2.0 is going to have to have some incremental success with some state kids and not grumbling. It’ll be one kid, and then more. Steep climb.

Finally these guys are ranked somewhere - our team ranking not so bad either.

Caleb Fauria is a 6-5 216lb TE/WR from Bishop Feehan High School in North Attleboro MA. Other offers from Colorado, Iowa, UMass, Rutgers and BC.

Good genes. Dad is Colorado alum Christian Fauria who played 13 years in NFL (Seahawks, Pats, Redskins and Panthers. Cousin Joe Fauria played for ND, UCLA and Detroit Lions, Cardinals and Pats in NFL.

Since his UConn visit and offer he picked up offers from Georgia Tech, Louisville, LSU, Maryland, Ole Miss, Pitt, TCU, Syracuse, Wisconsin and WVA.
