2019 Recruiting Thread

I wonder when we start making noise with Cletus Mathurn. 6'3'' 300lb NT candidate at Cheshire Academy. We have a bunch of coach follows here and several players. I get the impression he has been for a couple unofficial visits already.

A report from Rutty's camp last Friday 6/1. UConn offerees; Senn and CJ Hanson are mentioned. I think all of the PPI crew came to UConn the following day.

Rutgers Football East Coast Elite Camp Offensive Breakdowns

In the class of 2019, Premier Players International (PPI) brought a contingent of players from Europe in hopes of obtaining their first scholarship offers. Finland native Martin Veinberg was a legit 6-foot-8, 300 pounds and was the one O-Line prospects who generated the most buzz after the camp. He appeared to rise steadily on the Rutgers board. Fellow PPI members Kariem Al-Soufi (6-foot-5, 340 pounds) of Germany and Anton Oscarsson (6-foot-5 280 pounds) of Sweden showcased the size and strength to garner the attention from the majority of colleges in attendance.

Another European prospect in the class of 2019 was Valentin Senn from Austria, who has the size colleges covet at 6-foot-7, 280 pounds. Senn showed flashes of athleticism during pass pro. While some players offered by Rutgers just stopped by to hang out, CJ Hanson of St.John Vianney came out with every intention to compete. Hanson, who worked closely with O-Line coach AJ Blazek, had some technical issues that he straightened out during the course of the camp. Hanson’s footwork and athleticism were evident.

UConn has been following Ekwughalu:

Class of 2019 linebacker Brendan Ekwughalu from the Hun School walked away with offers from Army and Buffalo because of his ability to project as a hybrid that can cover receivers but is also physical enough to play in the box. The same can be said for Bergen Catholic 2019 Anthony Corbinwho was one of the standout defenders on a loaded Crusaders defense. While both Ekwughalu and Corbin possess a ton of offers, if both prospects were closer to 6-foot-2, they would see their recruitments explode.

And some have been following Yondjouren since last year:

The edge rushers stole the show during one-on-ones with Premier Players International’s Sylvain Yondjouen of Belgium leading the way in the class of 2019 while class of 2020 Canadian product Kenny Mestidor consistently blew by tackles

UConn commit DJ Smith @ #42. Gabe Murphy (#35 - uncommitted) and Cine (#4 - uncommitted) mentioned:

DFW’s top 50 high school football recruits for the Class of 2019:

>> 42. RB Darrin Smith - 5-8, 180, Frisco Lone Star
Committed to Connecticut. Also considered Nebraska, Colorado, Texas State, Louisiana-Monroe and more. Ranked the No. 10 all-purpose back in the nation. Rushed for 550 yards, 6 TDs in 2017.<<

I'm not saying we have a shot @ Cine but he holds a UConn offer and is not committed.

I think you missed one: Rashee Rice @#39 (uncommitted) 6'2'' WR with offers from Texas Tech, SMU, Washington State, Houton, Minnesota, Illinois, Tulsa and more. Recorded 1,200 yards, 15 TDs in 2017.

Somehow Kennedy Lewis/WR (looks pretty darn good) and Jacye Medlock/TE-WR (looks polished/makes plays) not on the list. They have a lot of talent down there.

Blessed To Receive An Offer From The University Of Connecticut ⚪️ #GoHuskies @Rivals @247Sports @njrivals1 @Corey_Bender @CoachCEdsall

Aric Horne is 6-1 215lb LB from Raines High School in Jacksonville Florida. Other offers from South Alabama, UCF and USF.

Highlights

Guessing he was on campus for camp this weekend:

Since UConn offered in March and in addition to the three schools noted above - he has added offers from AppState, Colorado State, Georgia State, Kent State, Middle Tennessee State, Rutgers, Toledo, UAB, Valdosta State, and WKU.

Starting to miss the bat signal. It's a little concerning that we haven't gotten more commitments after these camps.

There’s only been two camps (3rd and 9th). I’m only aware of three offers resulting from the camps (Senn, Mitchell and Jules). Not sure how many w/ offers already besides Horne may have been on campus either day.

I think somethings brewing where you will see a number of them commit @ once.

On Instagram Chase Lundt posted some pics confirming his visit this weekend.

Also of note, Valentin Senn picked up an offer from Colorado.
