Edsall values in-person skill/personality evalutions @ on-campus camps and @ games. He’s not a fan of highlight tapes.
 

Darrin (DJ) Smith is a 5-8 178lb RB/APB from Lone Star High School in Frisco Texas. Other offers besides UConn are from Air Force, Abilene Christian, ArkState, Colorado, FAU, Howard, Illinois State, Nebraska, Princeton, SMU, Southern Miss, TCU, Texas State, Toledo and ULM.

Oh wow, that is pretty big news.

Claims a 4.46 40 time. Runs rather effortlessly north-south, but can make guys miss, particularly at the line of scrimmage. Looks capable of catching the ball out of the backfield and throwing blocks. Something about the tape says Edsall kind of guy.

Three star RB. 247 has him as a warm on TCU, Colorado and UConn. Lets get it done Randy!
