2019 Recruiting Thread

So far early indications are that the staff is really into Mitchell, Burby, Taison P., Rudolph, and Wilson of the in state guys. Also they are tracking Gavin Muir -qb and Moz Bici (sp?) -de at Greenwich.

Can’t turn the corner with just out of state recruits, need to win some local battles too.

It would be a good sign if we pull in 4 of the top 10 in state kids this year (or 5 of the top 12) a step in the right direction.

Mozi Bici is a heck of a player.....

I guess another “in state” kid to watch this year will be this new 6’5’’ TE at St Thomas Moore - Jack True who just transferred from Yarmouth Maine. He has visited Umass and has a Wagner offer so far. Mike Z has jumped on him since the announcement to come to CT for HS football.

We have a really good relationship with the St Thomas More coach I think. They're starting to produce a ton of talent, so that's a good relationship to have. Hopefully the Cheshire Academy relationship gets stronger as well and we can get a good pipeline there.

Yep and this must happen. Most All of our AAC brethren are recruiting well in their own backyards and so we really need to do the same. Area kids have obvious reasons to seriously consider and actually stay local so to speak.

Tyler Rudolph (St Thomas More DB) picked up Clemson off today:

His offers besides UConn are Buffalo, Clemson, FAU, Florida, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple, UMass, VaTech and BC.

Add UVA tonight...

So w/ that offer Taisun now has offers besides UConn from Cincy, FSU, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, ODU, Penn State, Pitt, Purdue, South Carolina, Syracuse, TCU, Temple, Virginia and BC.

Kaboom. FWIW - Taisun is following the UConn staff and giving out likes to coaching posts on twitter. We seem to be in some sort of contention for now.

It would be incredible if the kid decided he wanted to play at home. Could become a 40 year legend if the chips fall right.

He’s been following Randy Edsall (and Corey), Wholley, A. Smith, Z and Abitz for a long time. Kid can be transformational here if he continues to develop and wants to be the “man”... P5 pull is gonna be hard to break - just need to stay in the fight to the end.

Yep - he has the opportunity to be a hero for the state if he stays home and ultimately a legend. Thats not hyperbole. And yes - it does seem that he is thinking about it.

Gotta keep getting him up to Storrs and games in the meantime... be great if he attends a Camp session.

Phommachanh has been able to see several schools taking trips to, “Penn State, North Carolina, UConn, Temple, Boston College, USC, UCLA and Maryland.” In March he’ll get back on the road with the goal to see spring practices to get a feel for fit.

But waits there is more planned - including trip south to see Florida State, FL, South Carolina and Clemson.

Phommachanh claims no favorites at this point but says his best relationships are with “Florida State, TCU and South Carolina."

He notes coaching stability and an opportunity to see the field early as important factors.

Edsall and Dunn will have to show that they have a fun and exciting offense to have any chance here (and yes, I know what are chances really are so chilax with the negative nelly posts).

Darrin (DJ) Smith is a 5-8 178lb RB/APB from Lone Star High School in Frisco Texas. Other offers from Colorado, Howard, Illinois State, Nebraska, Princeton, SMU, Southern Miss, Texas State and ULM.
