As Chris Jones speculated during last night’s game, Jimmy Wang gets the start today. In one way a bit of a surprise, as he hasn’t pitched a lot since high school, and I would have thought that the coaching staff might want to go a bit slow with him. Still, even with all his comparative inexperience the coaching staff views him as a young talented pitcher with a lot of upside in his potential. Traditionally, that is the type of pitcher Coach Penders often tries to get established in the weekend starting rotation as quickly as possible.

Moriarty fails to lay down a bunt, leading to Winkel getting thrown out at 3B in the top of the 2nd. A player with Moriarty's bat needs to get bunts down.

Houston solo homer in the bottom of the 2nd ties up the game.

Wang retires the next 3 after the solo shot to end the inning.

Last out on a great defensive play by Moriarty. Glove needs to do the talking for him, as the bat doesn't. He's never hit over .230 at either UConn or in summer ball, so expecting the bat to get going is not a good bet to take.

He is a D1 player. IMO even if he is a weak hitter, he has to be at least be able to put down a sac bunt.
