2019/20 UConn Recruiting

On Beal - I am not sure we really have a handle on Uconn recruiting interest for 2019 players - not sure we know the full extent of their serious interest in 2018s yet either. And the reality is at this point the 2017 team is loaded with wings and guards with strong interesting in a wing/guard in 2018 (Williams) - if she were to commit then I am not sure they would want to triple up in consecutive years with Walker, Williams and another top wing in 2019. If Williams goes elsewhere, then a 2019 wing makes more sense.

So, looking at 2019 the only official offer has gone to Brunelle. Zia Cooke they went to see workout. Sammie Puisis they are interested in to some extent.

In terms of official offers I believe you are correct.
It's early but the list of prospect for 2019 seems to be expanding and now includes or included:
Samantha Brunelle
Yasmeen Chang
Anaya Peoples
Aliyah Boston
Zia Cooke
Faith Masionis
Sammie Pusis
Haley Jones
Breanna Beal
Aubrey Griffin
Myra Gordon-Lexi's sister.
Assuming no other additions or departures UCONN will have 5 scholarships available for the 2019 class and minimum of 4 for class of 2020.

Mark Lewis was impressed by Haley Jones ('19) at the Nike TOC:

Bob Corwin liked what he saw from Haley Jones at the NTOC too:

Haley Jones, 6-1, forward, 2019, Archbishop Mitty High School (San Jose, California)

Jones was a regular double-digit performer at the event. She can hit the three but is most deadly from mid-range or going to the rim all within the context of the offense. Defensively, she does her job. Power 5 schools have already lined up for her services.

Nike Tournament of Champions 2016 (part 2)

They are also recruiting Anaya Peoples, Aliyah Boston, and Aubrey Griffin.

Also known as the A Team.
I believe all were at First Night. A is obviously the first letter in the alphabet, so FIRST Night is fully appropriate.

12/27

Samantha Brunelle had 25 points and 9 rebounds on Tuesday but Monroe lost its game. They play again today and tomorrow.

12/28

Brunelle scored 19 points on Wednesday as Monroe rebounded 40-33 at the Holiday Classic.

Coach Bill,
I'm really hearing good things about Danielle Cosgrove on Long Island. Do you know if Geno's looking at her?

I've heard that Danielle likes/liked UConn. I don't know if it's mutual.

I liked what I saw in her highlights video, though HoopGurlz has her rated about #50.

Nothing wrong with being ranked #50............ after all there were 429,380 female high school basketball players as of last season................:D

She sure seems to be interested in UConn.

"Everyone is amazed at Connecticut," said Beal, adding that the Huskies have not contacted her. "They win championship after championship, and I have rooted for them each time."
Yep , I too would say that she is interested in UConn.....UConn may yet show mutual interest. But its still early.

Samantha Brunelle left tonight's Monroe game with an ankle injury.

Have any of the coaches attended any games this season for Christyn Williams or NaLyssa Smith?

Don't believe so. Christyn Williams recently announced that she will make her decision after taking official visits this fall. She has already been to UCONN.
UCONN does not play at Huston this year so that may be a missed opportunity to visit NaLyssa Smith who is about 2.5 hours from Huston. UCONN visiting either at this point would be an indication of great great interest.

I thought a few of the coaches made TX swings earlier in the season that included visits, perhaps not for games but practices to both of them as well as to see Collier - but maybe I am wrong.

Yes before the season started Geno and at least Marisa did a Texas swing.
