2018 AP Poll, USAT Coaches’ Poll and CFP Rankings

ODU, Buffalo (UMass should have joined the MAC), Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina have futures in higher conferences, methinks. Once the AAC gets raided again.

G5 Rankings (AP)
  1. UCF (13)
  2. BYU (20) <--- are they eligible to be G5 rep in NY6 bowl?
  3. Boise (27)
  4. USF (29)
  5. Cinci
  6. UNT
  7. Buffalo
  8. SD St

I do not believe so. They're not in a group of five conference.

Huh?

Buffalo was a dumpster fire before this year. And success is likely being driven by their coach who came from D3 power Wisconsin-Whitewater. He will likely get stolen away by a B10 school soon enough, and UB will be back to where it was.
ODU lost 52-10 to Liberty and was considered one of the worst FBS teams before Saturday. 1 win does not make a program.

Neither have shown any pattern of success.

App St I'll give you. They have transitioned well.

Going by markets. ODU and CC easily have potential.

ODU is in the second biggest market between Wash DC and Atlanta. Only Charlotte metro is bigger. Top 40 TV market and a fertile recruiting region.

In theory a conference with Temple, Navy, ODU and ECU would have a strong presence throughout the mid-Atlantic. I don't want to be in that conference but there is cohesion with that group of schools.

Raleigh-Durham & Greenville-Spartanburg are bigger TV markets. And Greensboro-WS isn't far behind.

I was using population as my reference. Tidewater/Hampton Roads is bigger than either of the two you mentioned.

List of metropolitan statistical areas - Wikipedia

(Yeah, it's wikipedia, but they are at least smart enough to make listing and sorting much easier than the census bureau's disaster of a website).

lol can we not ruin poor medic’s thread with ridiculous nonsense about Old Dominion’s TV market.

The AAC isn’t getting raided and the only thing worse than Tulane is Buffalo.

I haven't said that much but I'll say this, in case you forgot, even Tulane is looking for greener pastures.

So we’ve played 4 of the top 30 teams in the country. This is brutal.

It feels strange to acknowledge this, but I enjoy cheering for AAC teams. It is great to see them competing and getting recognition as legit programs.

26. UCF
49. Cincy
54. USF
55. Temple
57. Memphis
97. Tulsa
104. Navy
117. SMU
126. ECU
169. UConn

There are 4 G5 Teams behind UConn: 175 Charlotte, 177 Rice, 186 UTEP, 196 Texas St. So UConn would only be the 2nd worst team in the Sun Belt, and only the 4th worst team in CUSA.

There are 43 FCS teams rated ahead of UConn.

How about North Dakota State clocking in at 30th in the country — one slot ahead of South Carolina!

I love the coaches poll. Syracuse getting votes lol.
