Buffalo was a dumpster fire before this year. And success is likely being driven by their coach who came from D3 power Wisconsin-Whitewater. He will likely get stolen away by a B10 school soon enough, and UB will be back to where it was.
ODU lost 52-10 to Liberty and was considered one of the worst FBS teams before Saturday. 1 win does not make a program.

Neither have shown any pattern of success.

In theory a conference with Temple, Navy, ODU and ECU would have a strong presence throughout the mid-Atlantic. I don't want to be in that conference but there is cohesion with that group of schools.

I work with metro area data every day so I'm famliar with them. Raleigh & Durham are separate metros as are Greenville & Spartanburg, which puts Virginia Beach bigger. But they're combined TV markets.

I imagine those three teams are bitching about how UConn brings down the conference, similar to our views about how ECU drags down hoops.
