2017 UConn Pro Day/UConn in 2017 NFL Draft/UDFA Contracts

One of my oft repeated observations (and favorite sayings) is "you're never a hero in your own hometown". It's amazing how many players we've had that we didn't especially think of as being "that impressive", yet once the NFL scouts reacted differently, we nodded and said "wow, I guess he (insert name here--Knappe, Myers, etc) was better than we thought".
It's obviously a reflection of the system we employ and the impact and quality of the coaching they receive, but we've had far too many not to notice the trend.

.-.
Is it just me or was that pretty damn impressive?
This kid always impressed me. Made a lot of mistakes because he was new to the game but that combination of size and athleticism is not common.

They also wasted a year of development by placing him on the D-Line that first season. New to football, 6'8".....let's make him a DT!!

I've said it many times but I know for a fact PP was the only coach who wanted our Great Dane on the defensive line. Dumb fack.
It's also worth noting that PP was moving toward shifting Knappe to the OL had he not been canned anyway. So yeah while he may be considered (by some) an idiot....he at least saw this and was moving towards this.
