2017 UConn Pro Day/UConn in 2017 NFL Draft/UDFA Contracts

Awesome news for all the guys who are one step closer to playing on Sundays and following their dreams! Congrats to all.

One last parting shot at Diaco for me; you had all these good players and had no friggin clue what to do with them! I think Myers and Puyol are going to be real steals for the Ravens, too...

As a Ravens fan, I think Myers could certainly make some noise and has a decent shot at making the team. We don't have much depth on the DL. But, as much as I love Bobby, the only chance he has is if Justin Tucker gets hurt. Hope he shows enough for another team to give him a look tho, I think he can.

Agree. I'd put Puyol just behind Teggart as far as Uconn kickers go and Teggart barely got a sniff.

Teggart signed with the Bears when Robbie Gould was playing at a very high level. Always thought that a better landing spot would have helped.

I believe Taggart once mentioned that a detriment to his NFL opportunity was that he didn't kickoff while at UConn. You may recall that our scholarship punter, Chad Christen was supplanted by walk-on Cole Wagner. They then let Chad do the kicking off. That's one of the reasons Bobby Puyol lobbied to kick off after Michael Tarbutt had been doing it.

I was very surprised Taggart did not get a longer look myself. I didn't think about the kick off aspect, good point.

So let me get this right.... despite our offensive ineptitude and porous line play, the two starting senior offensive linemen from our 2016 team were good enough to sign as udfa's in the NFL? Can't make this stuff up.

Congrats to Levy, I hope him and Andreas both stick for a long while.

What does that tell you about our former coaching staff? :(

Shh. Don't tell Whaler.

Worth a click:

>>By my count, 11 players on UConn's 2014 team - a roster that former coach Bob Diaco managed to squeeze one whole win against a Football Bowl Subdivision team - have taken part or will take part in NFL training camps (not including tryouts at rookie camps).

S Andrew Adams: Started 13 games and had 46 tackles as a rookie with New York Giants
DT Kenton Adeyemi: Signed as free agent in 2016 by Chicago and then Cleveland
WR Geremy Davis: Former sixth-round pick by New York Giants had two catches in 10 games in 2016, now on Los Angeles Chargers' roster
WR Deshon Foxx: Current on New York Jets roster, previously with Seattle
CB John Green: Signed as free agent by Tennessee Titans
DB Byron Jones: Starting safety for Dallas Cowboys who had 88 tackles in second NFL season
OT Andreas Knappe: Currently on Atlanta's 90-man roster
OT Richard Levy: Currently on San Francisco's 90-man roster
DL B.J. McBryde: Spent team either on the roster or practice squad with Philadelphia, Green Bay and San Franisco
S Obi Melifonwu: Second-round pick of Oakland Raiders
WR Noel Thomas: Signed as a free agent by Detroit

Also, defensive lineman Mikal Myers (Baltimore), kicker Bobby Puyol (Baltimore) and cornerback Jhavon Williams (New Orleans) got looks in rookie camp as did Reuben Frank with Detroit in 2015 while a talented group of seniors, who were freshmen on the 2014 team, figure to add to that list in 2018.<<

That is the biggest indictment on that clown right there. It also answers 3 questions:

1) Edsall can recruit (the first 4 names are his)
2) Contrary to some popular belief, Pasqualoni can recruit (the rest of the guys are his) but couldn't coach.
3) Diaco might have been the worst head coach in Division 1 history...

Don't you know that the cupboard is always bare at UConn? That's the problem ask any of the beat writers.

Let's hope he could recruit.

By "he", I am assuming you are referring to Diaco.

While we pretty much know that he could not recruit at the level that Edsall or PP could, I think that he did find some gems. Probably because he got some of these kids to fall for his bull in a similar way to how he got administrators to fall for his bull...
