Staff is closing strong. To paraphrase from the Godfather recruiting is a dirty business. Difference it seems so far it seems between Diaco and Edsall staff is Diaco recruited kids until they commit somewhere else, Edsall recruits kids until signing day regardless of commitment status.

Yes, the situation will get worse before it gets better. However, 10 years from now kids will still be drafted - rather frequently from AAC, MAC, MTW, etc because football, as much as any other sport, is about playing time and all that talent packing in at the P5 schools benches won't get on the field to hone their craft and display their ability.

Maybe the kids will never learn, but it won't change, your best bet for playing at the next level for many kids is playing G5 so they rack up the playing time.

Maybe the kids will never learn, but it won't change, your best bet for playing at the next level for many kids is playing G5 so they rack up the playing time.

Great point, especially at this time of year E4...one that we know already...but hopefully one that kids will start realizing for themselves as they see the P5 relegating more and more quality kids (kids with pro potential) to the bench. I think it takes a coach who has "been there" already (had his players drafted into the league) to convince today's HS kids to go where they can play and get noticed for it. That's how they'll realize their potential and have a shot at the league...and that's what UConn's HCRE can do!

There are a few kids coming in for a visit this week and a few pending offers, so we are not done in 17.

I just think it is very smart to offer kids of the 18 class this week. It plays on emotion; this is the time of year when juniors are seeing their senior classmates getting ready to make their official commit and are making last minute visits.

Your scenario seems much closer to what is going on IMO, during this last week. The staff is still pursuing certain guys and making offers for this season....and next as well. RE is always organized, has a plan and our new coaches appear to be very involved as well. I'd be very surprised if we don't see additional commits leading into signing day.

Robert Holmes is a 6-5 330lb OL from Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach Florida. Robert was once an FAU commit. Other offers from Auburn, Miami, Temple and Georgia State. He made a visit to UConn under previous staff and was suppose to visit FAU this weekend.
