And now I can breathe. It's difficult waiting for a new line to show up on a web page telling me that someone made an out.

RUOTOLO with 1-2-3 8th.

Ruotolo...36.1 innings over 23 appearances. 1.73 ERA with batters hitting .198 against him.

11 saves. Soon to be 12.

Waiting for the Gonzalez result had me hyperventilating.

Now the drive home will be relaxing as it should be.

Do we usually play our LF on the warning track? We had two bloops fall in that inning where regular shift they're probably caught. I know you want to play prevent defense but I think he had part of his shoe literally on the track.

For those of you who are new to following the team, let me tell you; this game was emblematic of the entire season.
  • Outstanding starting pitching.
  • Hitters showing flashes of their ability (which they definitely have), but inexplicably going cold for long stretches of time.
  • Bullpen is a huge weakness outside of Ruotolo, making every single lead anxiety-inducing.
Really glad they pulled it off though.

Cannot play like that against Florida and expect to win, but at this point in the season, we take those.

Is this round robin? Does it go by best record and then for ties run differential or something like that? Excuse my stupidity. I know next round is best of 3.

Winner's bracket/loser's bracket, double elimination.

For those who've followed all year, based on his pitch count is Ruotolo unavailable tomorrow? I Kay we trust.

At this point, as hard as it is to blow a 7-0 lead to a 7-6 win. You take the win and move on anyway you can get it this time of year. Tomorrow is a new day and new game and today's finish is in the past.

It's o.k. when the tieing run is at the plate and you don't want to allow a double. The hit we gave up when we were up 3 with a man on first and no one out was coaching malpractice. Doesn't matter if that guy doubles -- you want to increase the odds of keeping him off base. And what makes baseball a great game, of course, is the next guy hits into a DP and if that guy had been on 2d instead of first, we probably lose.

A little too close for comfort, but a win is a win, especially this time of year.
