UConn on the board, still in business with 2 out this inning

5-1 Georgia Tech after 4 innings. Now UConn needs Montgomerie to return to late season form for the next couple of innings.

Edit: Never mind about Montgomerie. Dandeneau is in to pitch the 5th inning.

Dandeneau wriggles out of trouble in the top of the 5th with no additional runs coming in for Georgia Tech. The Rambling Wreck still leads 5-1.

If I hear "And the very first home run of the year hit by ________" one more time ....

Is it not obvious Parr has pine tar on his hip he keeps going to?

Bases loaded balk scores a run for UConn in the bottom of the 5th.

5-2 Georgia Tech after 5 innings. UConn fails to really take advantage of an obviously spent Parr.

Unfortunately that 3 run 2 out bomb has changed this game. We can't waste opportunities - need big hits when we have a couple runners in scoring position. Maybe it's only a 3-2 deficit if we kept GT in the yard and scratching out a run at a time would work.

For whatever reason, Parr had been totally losing his command pitching from the stretch. We haven't taken advantage with our best hitters up with hitters counts and lots of runners on.

Some good news from the UConn bullpen. Dandeneau breezes through the top of the 6th with a 1-2-3 inning.

Parr has only started a couple games this season. He is normally a reliever. He already pitched some in the Friday game, came back on very short rest to start, and really had reached the limit of his effectiveness in this game after throwing many more pitches than he is used to.

UConn really needs to take advantage of the thin Georgia Tech bullpen that Parr was protecting.

Did the game freeze for anyone else watching on ESPN 3? Getting a "your event is about to begin please stand" by message on computer, not working on the phone either

Huge run. 5-4. If we can take back the lead in the bottom of the 7th, I think we win.

Scraping back in it. 5-3 with a runner at 3rd.

Hurt ourselves with bad base running again. But big hit from LeFevre undoes that to cut it to 5-4. The crooked number this inning was big.

UConn picks up 2 more runs in the bottom of the 6th to make it 5-4 in favor of Georgia Tech.

UConn making a comeback despite giving up unneeded outs on the base paths.

Easy 1-2-3 inning for Over, including a fly out for hit machine Matt Gonzales.

I was ok breaking for home on contact with runners on second and third. Normally the runner on second can move into third and you aren't that much worse off than you were before, but he had to hold with play in front of him. Getting thrown out at second with nobody out was much less ok.

There are little things situationally that I feel we've done poorly. Hill, Sundberg and Yahn have forced their closer to throw only four pitches for the last three outs. Make him work a little.
