For whatever reason, he seems to really like Syracuse and Kentucky. I didn't see any reports of the staff watching him or his team during the tournaments so it's a bit interesting why he would unofficial though he does claim to have an offer.

Here's an excerpt from a ZagsBlog interview with his dad last year:

“He’s leaning toward Syracuse and he would love to go to Kentucky. He loves Kentucky and he loves Syracuse. We’ve been talking about Syracuse the most. I think how (SU) plays, the size of their wing plyers, how they’re open to the different changes in the game. Syracuse has a little bit of everything, combo guards, combo forwards.”

Scouts say the best athlete in the class, however his mid to long range game needs improvement

I have no idea why any kid with NBA aspirations would ever go to Cuse. You don't learn to defend. at all. and you'll never win while in college. And its in Syracuse NY

Oh you'll win alright…..they do that but they never finish the season with a win…..well Carmello did once lol

I like this guy a lot. For him to schedule us at this point makes me believe we have a real shot at landing him. Fingers crossed.

I think it's always unfair for us to say whether we'd like him or not but I see what Tampa is saying……….his "scouting report" is he needs to work on his ability to take his man with the dribble as we'll as hone his jump shot…………not sure what else is left for a 6'6" swing man?

But in KO we trust and the fact he is ranked so high makes people believe he will eventually get there……….

He just doesn't wow me. I would rather stick with our guys like Facey. But like you said trust in Ollie.

Have to admit there is some wow but it's all on one or no dribble dunks, would like to see more mid range game and taking some people off the dribble from the perimeter…….but it's only a 1 minute plus video and he does look very long and I like lefties they always seem to gain an advantage.

Best player in PA has something for us if he selected UConn I guess right? :D

To each his own I guess. I'm still not sold, hope he proves me wrong and he still is young enough to work on his game. He would be my first player picked on a volleyball game ;)

take it with a grain of salt, but scout says.....

jones is a prime finisher from the baseline thanks to springy leaping ability and long arms. He's very flexible through his upper body and thus able to hang mid-air and contort his body to score in traffic. In transition, he's a stellar offensive weapon who pushes tempo and naturally is a top-notch finisher when he fills the lane on a break. To become better in the halfcourt, he needs to get stronger and improve his jump shot and dribbling

I'm not so excited because I think we only have two scholarships and PG and a big man are our two major needs. We have small forwards & guards who can play small forward. Prince Ali will be a great small forward. Jones's greatest value may be as a defensive specialist / rebounder / versatile player who can defend many positions -- a rich man's Lasan Kromah -- but this staff has shown they can make great defenders out of great scorers and guys not known for their defense or even guys known for defensive limitations (eg Boat due to his size, Giffey due to lack of athleticism, Nolan due to slenderness).

But, if we're going after him then they probably see potential for him to develop more than that. I trust KO, but would rather see an Adams/Govan or Newman/Stone pairing to finish the class.

A "rich man's Lasan Kromah" would be a surefire starter and defensive monster who can guard at least three positions. If that's what this guy is, then I hope we sign him yesterday.

Most top 30 recruits would be lucky to have a career as productive as Kromah's.

What's the difference between an unofficial visit and an official visit?

Official visit is paid for by the school (transportation, meals, lodging) and kids can only take 5 total official visits.

Unofficial visits are kids traveling on their own dime and basically showing up on campus - these of course are unlimited (can't tell people where they can't go on their own time).

since he pays his own way, I guess by definition UCONN is not trying very hard; sounds like he just wants to rub his keester against ncaa title trophies & then go to fruitland & veg
