Cincinnati and Butler are both sweet sixteen type teams, IMO. Doesn't change the fact that it's a huge missed opportunity for Cincinnati. If you wanna be considered among the elite you have to win those games.

American went 7-1 tonight, but of course lost the biggest game with Cincy losing to Butler. Good win for Tulsa on the road against Oklahoma State. Tulsa has been very up and down so far. Also, Houston blew out Murray State at home. They are supposed to win their league. Really feel Tulsa/Houston are wild cards in this league after the big 3.

Houston is interesting for sure. They haven't played anybody but they've won all five games by double digits. We should get a better feel for where they are in their next two when they play @ Rhode Island and LSU.

Houston isn't there yet, but they will soon be one of the biggest games on the UConn schedule. You might not like Kelvin Sampson, but he has never failed to win wherever he's been. The Houston area is always loaded with talent, and just like with the football team, they'll stay home if you give them a good option. Probably an NIT team this year, as they learn how to win. Once the local talent sees the results, the recruiting will take off.

Ben Simmons against North Florida with zero defense played.

43 points (15-20/13-15FT), 14 reb, 7 assists, 3 blocks 5 steals

I think it's safe to say he's played his way into the first round no?

40+ points and 10+ boards against a team in one of the worst conferences in DI. That seems awfully familiar...

Cincinnati got absolutely hosed tonight. Back-to-back phantom foul calls led to Clark not playing most of the 2nd half and it included a technical on Cronin that completely changed the game. After that point it was all downhill, Cincinnati was a solid 6-8 point lead most of the night until that point. Also that last play, the Butler player clearly lowered his shoulder and cleared out Clark, leading to the bucket. The director of officiating for the entire NCAA was at the game and could not have been pleased. I've doubt we've heard the end of this one.

Teams get "hosed" all the time. Even if it was better for the conference rpi, sos or whatever I for one am not losing sleep over or crying about Cincy or the fruit losing tonight.

lol I guess an Indiana player bumped into Coach K at halftime, and Coach K was asked about it afterwards:

Appears like an Indiana player bumped K on his way off the court. K went to Crean, who told him he didn't see it

Adam Smith ‏@adam_smithTN 14h14 hours ago
Something happened with Coach K as the IU players ran off the court for halftime. He stopped. Then Capel went hustling after the IU players.

Don’t know if an IU player maybe bumped him. K then waved Crean over and they talked for a couple moments. Capel was hot, to be sure.

Laura Keeley ‏@laurakeeley 12h12 hours ago
K on the halftime bump: "Where I’m from, when you get hit, you do something. But I didn't do anything about it."

Laura Keeley ‏@laurakeeley 12h12 hours ago
More K on the halftime bump: "I didn't even know what the hell happened, and then boom, I got hit."

How did that even make the headlines? Because he's a 68 year old man with more hair dye than a woman? Or the fact that Tom Crean is an overrated coach at a dead program?

UK down 10 near the half. I guess they may have gotten fat on all those cupcakes lately, and it's funny because UCLA is a cupcake with a big program name.

UCLA is playing the best I've seen from them all year. They have been bad, so I wouldn't put this in the books yet.

If UK loses, it's too bad Maryland lost to UNC - they could've been #1 next week.

You mean like how they comfortably handled Duke?
A team of overhyped inexperienced freshman beating another team of overhyped inexperienced freshman in their first collegiate game doesn't impress me, but it does the layman.

Who cares about being # 1 in December, it' all about being # 1 in April.

Please. If we played and beat Duke, you'd (rightfully) be pointing to it as a great win all season.

ESPN Headline:
Goodman: NCAA mishandles Jim Boeheim case ... again

"The NCAA upheld Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim's nine-game ban. But to change the timetable at the last minute is unfathomable. And the only explanation, says Jeff Goodman: That's the NCAA for you."

Hmm, did Goodman or anyone at ESPN say anything about the NCAA changing the timetable for APR calculations?
