strachan to bcu.... smh

Why is that a "SMH"??

The dude is from Needham MA ~ it's 7 +/- miles away from home. UConn was an absolute longshot.

"The BC staff's always been recruiting me really heavily and I've always watched BC," Strachan told EagleAction.com. "I always had an idea BC would be a place I could definitely play."

Wow!!! SMFH... It's May and we still havn't offered this kid. Hope we reach out to him soon... Good job with the latest recruiting news "Huskymedic"

Don't know why we're not the first offer to the top Connecticut kids. We should try to lock up Connecticut kids early, it should be our space every year.

Not because he didn't sign with UConn, I was hardly expecting that. My issue is that as we are all aware there is one BCS conference program in New England and us. Said BCS conference program has been mired in what could very kindly be termed mediocrity for the last almost half decade, during 3/4 of which we were on a very different trajectory. That school had become poisonous to local recruits (see from recent rivals MA state rankings: Jack McDonald, Maurice Hurst, John Montelus, Eric Olson, Canaan Severin, Abner Logan, Amari Reeves, Camren Williams, Jason Sylva, Obi Melifonwu) . This year they have Baker, Yiadom, Strachan and Cohee from MA, with only Thomas going out of state so far. Figaro is the only other BCS level MA recruit I can think of. Short version is that landing a 4 star in state recruit gives them credibility with the other in state (or regional) recruits, it no longer becomes unglamorous locally to go to BCU instead of UVA or Maryland. We had benefited (on paper) from their downward trend with guys like Sylva and Melifonwu.

Also, I don't think there is anything magical about the state border and worry this trend will include our home state as well. Less Isaacs more Outlow. Thus SMH.

BTW, I don't think there is anything PP could have done to avoid this short of much better records and more exciting play, so my intention is not to bash him for this turn of events.

Scout has an article dated yesterday, an interview with Sylva, which I could not read since I am not a paying member. Did anyone read it? They list him as a "soft verbal" for 2014.

UConn offers Tennessee lineman: The spring evaluation period has taken the UConn coaching staff to a few inter... Post original url/14CqE3B

Bruno Reagan ~ 3* 6-3 288lb DT/OG from Clarksville TN. Currently ranked as the #14 prospect in TN

Offers from us, USF, WKY and Austin Peay. Interest from Vandy (40 minutes from home) and Memphis.

TJW mining new territories for UConn. Can't remember anyone from Tennessee before.

From the JB article on TJW:

"He is an extremely good coach and that can be backed up with what he did at Cincy," said Reagan. "He wants to bring me in because he is going to turn the entire offense around. They have been struggling the past few years with the defense carrying the weight." I'm trying to make it for a camp, but the distance makes it tough," said Reagan. "I'll get up there eventually. I heard they have great facilities, but I really want to see a staff that is going to compete for championships."

From a 247 article:

"Reagan, at 6-4, 285 pounds was one of the more athletic linemen at the event, showing great feet in agility drills, great athleticism in one-on-ones and an obvious competitive streak. What wasn't obvious was that Reagan's football career consists completely of two seasons. Reagan hadn't been totally inactive though. In fact, the primary reason he hadn't taken to the football field is because he has emerged as one of the top wrestlers in the state of Tennessee and one of the top judo combatants in the world. Those rankings aren't simply hyperbole. Reagan has won a Tennessee state championship in wrestling, a national championship in Judo and has placed in the world championships in judo as well." 2013 TSSAA Wrestling Heavyweight State Champion. 50-0 season...2013 All District and All Area Lineman...3x Judo Junior Olympic Gold Medalsit.....All-National Tournament (All-American) Freestyle Wrestling

2 things.

I like linemen who are wrestlers. They get the leverage thing.

I want to see what the O does this year first before I annoint him the HC in waiting.....but I'm really interested to see what TJW brings to the table this year.

Charlotte (N.C.) Independence RB Isaiah Robinson has picked up offers from #UCONN and #Buffalo
--------------------------------

From a 247sports article:

>>The 5-10, 211-pounder carried the Patriots’ running game as a junior in 2012, running for 1,549 yards and 16 scores on 218 carries, averaging 7.1 yards per attempt. He also added a pair of receiving scores as well.

"I’m a power back with a hard-work ethic,” said Robinson. “I like to run between the tackles and hit somebody.”

Other offers from Louisville, Wake Forest, Ohio and ECU (Robinson is ECU’s No. 1 running back target on its board) and it is thought to be btwn Wake and ECU as he may e looking to stay close to home.

2014 (FL) WR Kendrick Holland picked up offers from Uconn, Georgia Tech, and Mashall tonight, he says.
------------------------------------------------------
3* 6-3 195 lb WR/DB from Winter Haven. 4.86 40

From a few scouting reports - Holland is a tall receiver that attacks the ball at its highest point. More of a run and catch guy. Biggest plays will come downfield in contested matchups. Can be effective after the catch if he gets a seam to exploit. Shows deceptive run away speed and a smooth stride, but isn't overly sudden or explosive in his change-of-direction. He's more elusive. Capable of using size and first-step quickness to elude the first defender.

Other offers from Clemson, Kentucky, Louisville, Indiana, Rutty, USF, Vols, VTech, and WVA

From today's JB article on Marchi on TOS:

>>Marchi has an extensive summer camp schedule planned, but now he is not sure if he will adjust everything.
