Cali and New Jersey lead with 10 players each. Ohio has 9. Texas has 8.
Don't think anyone else has more than 5.

Sure looks like it. They have Chong at 75 in their 2013 rankings.
Seems like if they were going to go to all that trouble to create a whole new ranking service, they could at least update their rankings.

It is always good, however, to know that the #1 Parade All American is a 4 star recruit.

So we have verbals from #8, 16, and 17 and are involved with 2, 7, 33, and 61 at least.

That ranking seems low for Gabby, but impressive for Sadie. We still need more height, but I like how the class is shaping up. A'ja would put it over the top.

Ekmark and Chong are ranked to low IMO. From all the AAU people I've heard from both are top recruits. The reports on Ekmark are through the roof. They compare her to KML and Kelly and included in their remarks is Ekmark has no range and can shoot from anywhere, with poise and control. She's the best. On Saniya well you've already heard my comments on her. On top of that she's NPOY and they have her ranked 75th. I wonder if the rankings will be edited. With all due respect.

They revised Ekmark and Gabby's rankings to the mid-teens.... from Top 10. One has to wonder what they based that on.

Keil Moore & Chris Hansen formally of Hoopgurlz

By the way, what happened to Hoopgurlz? The readership must havebeen higher when these guys wrote for ESPN than the new website. ESPN affiliation was good for the site and got the content more interest from fans.

If rating services were to divulge their ties to certain AAU programs, camps, etc. we would better understand why ratings vary from site to site. I'll leave it at that. Most of the ratings come from tournaments in which 100's of teams participate. With multiple games playing at the same time it is inevitable that many players are missed. And this says nothing about the thousands of players who never get to one of these tournaments. In the rater's defense they are trying to rate the entire country with a few people and I would imagine they are forced to rely on 2nd hand evaluations in some cases. When I read reports from these big tournaments it seems that the rater came there with a list of players he/she wanted to see. Last year at this time Chong wasn't even listed in HG's top 100 but still had offers from a several top D1 schools. She was left off the list because she had never been seen. So when HG discovered that she had been offered by so many top schools they put her at 75 in an attempt to not look like they missed her. The comments about her varied. One service talked about her ability to drive the lane. Another talked only about her outside shot. None mentioned her passing ability or court vision.

Wow! I just checked Ayldar out on Wikipedia. The story of his death is brutal, to say the least. Beautiful horse!

Alydar - Nice post though I think the affiliation issue is smaller than it used to be. And last fall was the first time Chong played in a National event - first time her HS ever travelled and she played local NY AAU. The other issue for the raters is BUDGET! A lot less money available on the women's side and so getting around the country to view regional events is tough.
