2014 Huskies -What is the question that you are most curious about?

And so will the fans, the coaches and.... the local media will having something positive to talk about regarding UConn football. My original point, and I'll try to explain it in simpler terms for you slow folks, was that I'd be curious to see after 4 games A: if they are doing good or B: If they are a carbon copy of last years start, what the fan reaction, local media treatment and coaches body language on the sidelines will be.

A: If things are going well(4-0 3-1) will we see 30K+ for the Temple game at the Rent? Will the local media start buzzing? What will UConn's sideline look like? People bouncing around juiced to get into the game? Coaches rushing around making sure their charges are ready?
B: If they go into the Temple game 1-3 or 2-2 with a couple embarrassing losses will the stadium be half full at kick off? Will the local media be questioning Diaco's strategy or will they be forced to publicly excuse his start as either first time head coach learning experience or still cleaning up the last regimes mess? What will the coaches body language be on the sidelines? Will Diaco and co be in peoples faces or will, in the face of adversity, Diaco be the teacher/consoler on the sidelines?
You're point is not a point.

It seems to me that you want to compare how the environment reacts to a similar situation that had been fostered by the former regime. You want to see the differences (and are hoping there are few) between the new staff and the old regime in an effort to say, "I told you it wasn't the coaches." I hope I'm wrong. I hope you aren't rooting for failure. Unfortunately, I don't think I am.

Perhaps we should just ask a direct question instead of speculate? Weyuo, are you a supporter of the former coaching regime and skeptical about the new one? Or do embrace the new regime and are describing the things you'll use to judge the success of any new coaching regime, HCBD's or otherwise? BTW, I realize both questions can easily be parsed.

Exactly. Setting the threshold at 4 games is so irrational one can only assume it's done for diabolical reasons.

Let me tell you something I'm almost certain will take place. Diaco and company will take the talent he has and design a plan that suits them well.

There is no way Diaco is stupid enough to try and revamp the entire team, especially the offense, in year one.

This alone is worth 1-2 wins.

I think the staff takes a lot from the last 3 games of 2013 and builds on the positives and what worked well on offense. As for defense, who knows, but I'm confident he knows what he's doing there.

Who -u-c-k is setting a threshold? As far as P was concerned I called individuals out WHEN THEY TOOK CHEAP, SOPHOMORIC SHOTS AT THE CURRENT COACHING STAFF.
Hitting below the belt type of shots that were just mean spirited. I'll stand up for this new coaching staff the same way I have for the last two. You take some cheap, unwarranted shot at the team I follow, I'll say something about it. You can bully this board if you want but I call em the way I see em if you don't like it go find somewhere else to get your jollies. You guys probably shouldn't get a Boneyard flag and if one is displayed it might be a good idea not to display it yourselves. You tend to go out of your way to pizz people off for no other reason than to see if you can. Beware, you just might get what you deserve.

Please don't play the victim. It's even more unbecoming than your love for all things PPGDL.

When you fire the first shot ("I'll explain in simpler terms for you slow folk"), you may expect some return fire.

As far as threats go, I'm sure everyone's scared.

It's 7, be OK with 6, downright giddy with more than that. Anyone projecting or happy with 4 needs to be removed for their own safety.

LOL!! We'll see how long it takes you to jump off the Diaco bandwagon. With some of you guys it's inevitable. I'll support anybody willing to carry the torch for UConn whether it be Edsall, Pasqualoni, Holtz or Diaco. When somebody takes a cheap shot I'll call you on it. Keep it constructive. Don't take the cheap shot son.

Weyuo and others that supported Pasqualoni were trying to destroy UConn football. Worst poster since "Ansonia Steve".

Which game, and who, will run the Statue of Liberty play? Or, the Larry Taylor fair catch play in honor of Louisville Community College? ;)

Will a 7-point deficit still feel like a three possession game?
This is an awesome question because I forgot, thankfully, how I felt this every time we went down simply by one score. Heck, it could have even been down by a FG and I felt like it was a giant mountain to climb.

I'd add to this question thread, Will the coaches be able to make halftime adjustments. I remember all of us beating our heads against a wall when we'd come out from halftime doing the same stupid things....

UCFBfan I wish I could like you 3 or 4 times! the lack of adjustments at halftime was incredibly frustrating.

Yup, and as you also know too well, it was even worse at our 1, 2, 3, 4 or so AM.

The Temple home game where Christen missed all those kicks was infuriating. I remember thinking after the 1st Quarter that we were going to blow them out. Addazzio adjusted, we didn't, Chad had the worst game of his career, and we take the L in OT. Probably the 3rd most infuriating home loss other than UNC and RU (Tim f'ng Brown). I don't count the Navy game because quite frankly that game never happened.

I agree that the Temple loss was beyond frustrating but the UNC game was the worst. RU was just heartbreaking.

Only two times have I turned off a UConn football game in total disgust. Navy game and Buffalo last year. I am going to chalk the Navy game up as a fluke occurrence (althouth RE struggled with certain offenses (triple option/spread..see Pat White)), but that Buffalo game was an indication of how bad PP had led the program. The good news was that WM felt the same way.

Agree. But for me, one of the biggest letdowns was the UNC game where we had like 3 kicks blocked by the same guy.

I was part way off the bandwagon at the end of the first 5-7 season in December '11. The offense was bad and frankly, the defense was worse, but I was willing to give Former "Coach" Pasqualoni the benefit of the doubt. After all, Mr. Conner told us, "the cupboard was bare," and he didn't recruit any of his players. I knew the trouble wouldn't end for UConn after the UMass game when UConn's 1,000 yard rusher only mustered 82 and UConn didn't score more than 20 points in the first half, settling for field goals on two drives.

My buddy, with whom I've been going to games since 2002, jumped off the bandwagon after the home win vs. Buffalo in '12. I kept reminding him that UConn won, but then I was fully off board the next week when UConn couldn't must more than a field goal in Piscataway. I still went to the games, but...Well, let's put it this way: If I opened a beer at 11:50, I wasn't going out my way to finish it by the time I reach Gate D and I wasn't dumping it.

It's hard to adjust to a Plan "B" when there is no Plan "A." On what is the adjustment to be based?

Strongly disagree. If you show up to the games, you're a fan. Taking shots at coaches on the Internet doesn't make you a better fan. The only thing that makes you a fan is buying tickets, showing up, and supporting the program. I happen to try to be an optimist and even when things were going badly I tried to support the previous regime. Why? Because I wanted to win. And the only thing I can do, as a fan, is root for my team to win. I don't hire or fire the coaches. I don't get any say in the matter. I just hope our AD knows what he's doing.

But don't pat yourself on the back for being an Internet tough guy towards the previous coaching staff. It doesn't make you any better of a fan than anybody who acts like a respectful adult towards our previous coaches.

Last season's Buffalo loss was the worst display of football I've ever seen, maybe ever. When you get your doors blown off by Buffalo, you need to ask yourself some very serious questions.

The time for serious questions had long past. That ship had sailed even before Towson.

Please. The Pasqualoni supporters were in the same boat as "CT HS Football Coaches", we needed every voice possible to excise that cancer as early as possible.

I agree the UNC game was very painful - and it still came down to a phantom holding call. As long as we're reliving fond memories... There were back to back Western Michigan shred jobs. The Vandy game.... but for me the pièce de résistance was getting thoroughly bullied by Towson. That's why my threshold for improvement is not a number of wins. I simply want to see them be excited, disciplined and organized. I want to want to watch the team I want to watch. It shouldn't have to be my weekly penance every Sunday at 2 am... Wins will follow if they can make that happen.
