I recall a lot of Big Monday games when UConn showed up BIG and the other team showed up small.

Let's continue that tradition!

Will one of the two teams be trying to complete an undefeated regular season on February 27? Fodder for another book from Jeff. The Magic of #23.

Once again Geno has scheduled 3 Saturday-Monday games with all 3 Monday opponents being non-conference and ranked (I assume UNC/OK will be ranked top 25), and 2 of the games are on the road. He's scheduled this way for the last 3 years at least and it is terrific preparation for the NCAAs. I'm not aware of another coach who schedules this way in the middle of the conference schedule.

USF 1/28
at Duke 1/30

at Villanova 1/14
UNC 1/16

(at Louisville 2/7)
Georgetown 2/11
at Oklahoma 2/13

Glad to see Dayton on the schedule. Coach Jim Jabir was the coach at Providence that gave a certain young assistant named Carla Berube her first coaching job.

He's a good coach. BTW, Ally Malott, whom Geno recruited, will be a freshman for the Flyers this year.

that will be a fun game to watch. Dayton has been an up and coming team the past few years right? plus it's always fun to see UCONN go against a team that has a player they recruited at one point or another...

did Ally decide UCONN wasn't for her or vice versa?

Stanford is NOT on Big Monday. Do they play all of their out-of-conference games before mid-January?

I like when Geno does this. Its almost that NCAA atmosphere. Where you play a 1 or 2nd round opponent and a few days later you are playing an opponent that is a little stronger. I have seen him do this over the years. I believe I like it.

You have them all and were astute to include St. John's and Syracuse.

perhaps but doubtful. the BE is going to be tough this year. Rutgers especially. they finished 4th last year in the big east - they came on strong at the end, and while they lost little, they gained a LOT. great freshman class. altho they did lose Chelsey Lee for the year tho which is a big blow.

i think Georgetown will be a tougher game than SJU or Syracuse. but i'm not an expert on the rest of the big east. i do think UCONN, ND, Rutgers, L'ville, Georgetown, and WVU are the upper teams. Depaul, SJU, Syracuse, Marquette and Pitt are the next eschelon, and Cinci, Providence, Seton Hall, USF, and Villanova will be in the basement.

WVU lost 5 of its top 6 scorers. It will still have Bussie and Dunning returning and Carey is a very good coach, but I expect it will be a rebuilding year for the Mountaineers. Same with Marquette which has about 5-6 freshmen on its roster after losing its best players to graduation. I do expect both St John's and Syracuse to be pretty good and Rutgers should also be good though losing Lee will hurt if the speculation surrounding her shoulder is accurate.

The stretch of games from Duke on Jan 30 through the last game against Notre Dame will be brutal. Pitt and Marquette on the road are thrown in as breathers.

The game at Morgantown was a real struggle last year. I think we won by about 6.

The game vs. St. John's the prior year was also a struggle.

Those will not be our toughest games, but they will be mental and/or physical challenges.
