Bottom 7th, Tammaro moves to SS, Daniels at 2B, Garbowski at catcher.

Top 8th, with 1 out, Tammaro is hit by a pitch, and has to come out of the game, Drew Kron pinch runs for him. Pitching change, Chris Jones guessing that Smith will move back to 2B, Daniels move to SS, and Kron will play the outfield. 5-3 UConn going to the bottom of the inning.

Bottom 8th, Drew Kron takes over in CF, Morton moves to RF, Studley goes to LF. Daniels at SS, Smith at 2B.

I saw Drew Kron play quite a bit for Norwich in summer ball last year. He impressed me with his defense.

Bottom 8th, after a leadoff single, Fogell comes out of the game, Brady Afthim takes the mound.

After a strikeout for the 1st out, S. John's loads the bases with a single and and a walk. Afthim comes out of the game, Justin Willis takes the mound.

Sac Fly for the 2nd out brings in a run, 5-4 UConn. A ground out ends the inning.

Top 9th, leadoff hitter Smith with a bunt single, reaches 2B on a throwing error. Huber follows with 1 out 2 run homer, 7-4 UConn. Good to have amenities.

Broadhurst with a 2 out double, moves to 3B on a wild pitch. Morton walks to put runners on the corners, but nothing comes from this 2 out rally attempt. 7-4 UConn.

Bottom 9th, leadoff solo homer off of Willis, 7-5 UConn.

After the homer, Willis gives up a 2 out walk, but gets the final out to end the game. Willis gets the save, and UConn gets a 7-5 win over a very much improved St. John's team from last season. Nice first conference win of the season.

Another solid road win for UConn. Big East baseball has something of a split personality this season, with 4 good teams, and 4 teams around 200 or above in the RPI. The funny thing is that UConn has 3 road conference series, and they are all against the better teams in the conference as ranked by RPI. We'll see how all that plays out.
 
WTH loss followed by a WTH win. They showed some serious onions today and it wasn’t just the studs who came through. Daniels, Garbo, Paulie Goldilocks…a Penders special.

This is the second year in a row that UConn baseball has had the day off on Good Friday, and had to play a doubleheader the day before Easter. Seems to me that if both St. John's and Seton Hall insist on doing this schedule on Easter weekend, that they should be playing each other on Easter weekend.

Bottom 1st, Sears hits the leadoff hitter, but gets the next 3 hitters out for a scoreless inning. No score.

UConn pitchers have cut down on the walks of late, but still seem to be hitting more than their fair share of hitters during games.
