15 (Possibly) unbreakable sports records

I don't think any current track & field record is unbreakable - even those set by
the juiced up women from the old eastern block countries. ( maybe even Flo Jo's
record ).

Undefeated professional boxers with the most wins

James Curran Barry was an American boxer who held the world bantamweight championship from 1894 to 1899. Commonly referred to as "The Little Tiger", Barry retired undefeated with a record of 59–0–10, the most wins of any undefeated world boxing champion. He was inducted intoThe Ring magazine Hall of Fame in 2000.

Ricardo López Nava is a Mexican former professional boxer who competed from 1985 to 2001. He was a two-weight world champion, having held the WBC mini flyweight title from 1990 to 1998, defending it against a record-breaking 21 opponents; the WBA and WBO mini flyweight titles between 1997 and 1998; and the IBF junior flyweight title from 1999 until his retirement in 2001. His record was 51-0-1. He is the father of undefeated former boxer Alonso López

Cy Young’s number of wins and Cal Ripken Jrs games played in a row will never be broken. As for UConn’s 111 game win streak that will be broken and it will be more than likely done by UConn once again.
Agree on the first two. The 111 is a pretty tough one to beat though. Obviously not in the same league as Cy and Cal’s but if Sarah & co don’t do it, then it’ll be a long time before anyone wins 112 consecutive games.

Of all those 15 I think Cy Young's 511 wins is the 'most unbreakable'.
One of the 'easier' ones is Bolt's 9.58. They are getting pretty close...9.64 I think.
Yeah, Mike Powell’s long-jump record will stand longer than Bolt’s 100. The closest non-wind-aided jump other than his was Bob Beamon’s in 1968.

Cry Young’s 511 wins has to be the most unbreakable given the way starting pitching is handled today.

How about 4 straight women’s college basketball championships? Who will get 5 in a row with increasing parity every year?
While I totally agree with Cy Young's win record, I think that his 316 losses might be even harder, and his total decisions (827) is really impossible.

And, IIRC, 705 complete games. (Oops! it’s 749. And I call myself a quant.)

Barry Bonds HR record MIGHT someday. I can't believe Pete Rose's total hits isn't on the list. It will never be touched.
Barry Bonds "Home Run" record is a complete fraud so it does not really even count....Exactly why he will never get in the hall of fame..

Pete Roses total hit record should be on the list because that will never be broken...Too many injuries.

I never realized that Joe DiMaggio looked so much like Ted Williams.
Ted Williams had a record streak of his own, an equally impressive one. In 1949 he reached base safely in 84 consecutive games.

Over the course of Williams’s career (1939-1960), he got on base more often than anyone who has ever played the game. His lifetime on-base percentage was .482. In other words, he reached base 48.2 percent of the time – almost half of the times he stepped into the batter’s box.
