#10 Stanford @ #5 Ohio State 6 pm (BTN)

Smith looks like she a non-contact injury to knee. Hope she is ok.
I hope Smith will be ok. I do not like to see any player get hurt.

Smith back in. :D

Mitchell tearing it up to start the 4th quarter. Now has 30 for the game. Mavunga w/ 20 boards.
Mitchell's gonna be NPOY. OSU knows there's not gonna be a national title this year, so the next best thing will be to put the ball in Mitchell's hands as much as possible so at least the team has some accolades.

OSU is owning the Offensive Boards. That's why they're blowing out Stanford. Offensive Rebounds OSU 26 vs 7 for Stanford. OSU getting too many extra possessions/shots. OSU is only shooting 33% for the game, but when you shoot 22 more shots, it adds up when shooting percentages are close for both teams.

To think Richard Deitsch of Sports Illustrated had Stanford as his 2nd Ranked Team. Didn't understand when I read that and definitely not accurate after tonight's game.

Neither of these teams is impressive (let alone frightening). Mitchell is drawing raves from the BTN announcers, of course. Yet she continues to make poor decisions that would get her benched in ~some other places~.

Mavunga with a school-record 26 rebounds, and in only 29 minutes of play. Almost a rebound a minute. That's pretty damn amazing.

Poor effort by Stanford. Assuming Sunday is going to be even worse, this will be a bad trip to Ohio. Will give them plenty to work on when they get back to California.

So who is missing all the shots for the Buckeyes, Mitchell???

OSU: 85-64. And it was every bit as bad as that.

Mavunga scored 17 and Harper and Calhoun each had 15. Definitely not a one woman show for tOSU.

Unless Mitchell challenges Kelsey Plum's scoring record early enough in the season to get the publicity and OSU has a great year, don't think she can beat out A'ja Wilson. Don't think a UConn player can win it, unless there's one player who is dominant in every game. A'ja and Kelsey will be the dominant player for their teams in every game.

28 offensive rebounds for tOSU and 64-41 overall edge on the boards.

Mitchell was 10 of 23.
Her team was 29 of 84.
So Mitchell's teammates were 19 of 61.

They're hosting the Final Four, so I think they wanna show up to that.

People love to hang onto their predetermined narratives, even when it doesn't fit the facts.

Mavunga alone had 14 offensive rebounds. That's almost unbelievable. Stanford's entire team had 9.

Ha, well technically they were just asking a question.

There were some other comments sprinkled throughout the thread though. Harper and Calhoun combined for 30 points but I believe 10-34 FG. I'd rather have Mitchell shooting than her teammates based on tonight's game.

I know. The predetermined narratives are ubiquitous. I try to remember the motto of picking my battles.

BTN announcer "many think that Kelsey Mitchell will be the first pick in the WNBA draft"...Uh, I don't think so.

She may be the first pick .............................................right after A'ja Wilson goes off the board. Not sure Gabby won't go before her either. Gabby is a "swiss army knife". She can do a lot of things, and she has UConn pedigree. We all know what that's worth going forward. Mitchell is a pistol who is not fond of playing defense.

I hope Geno does not let the team view this game. Stanford just melted in the second 1/2 and state is not that good. Either one of teams to the FF, cakewalk for UCONN!

My thoughts too, if the WNBA team wants a player than can do everything (ie., the best player in the draft), Gabby should go first, if they are going for the player with more hype, Wilson or Mitchell...

Saw the same thing... not a great game to watch. For 2 teams ranked so high in early season polls I expected much more. But then again, 2 historically strong programs playing each other is better than some of the cupcakes other high ranked teams played last night.
