1 or 2 Seed Better?

Since Duke likely secured the 1 seed in the East with its win over Michigan….

Would you rather see us as a 2 seed in the East or a 1 seed in the South?

It’s a “pick your poison” situation either way, but Duke scares me. I’d rather avoid Duke until the Final 4, even if it means a road matchup in the Elite 8 with Houston.

What are your thoughts?
I’ll be serious when I say this. I’m not afraid of Duke. Unless…. The refs favor them with the whistle’s. Duke is not a deep team. If we slow down Boozer and limit Duke’s open 3’s, we should prevail.

donyell was 6-10 from the line that night. He played 44 min was only 5-13 from the field 0-5 from 3 finished with 16pts 13 boards. It wasnt his best game and yet UConn had the lead and was in position to win.

UConn as a team did not shoot well that game at all. Ray was 1-5, Donny Marshall 3-7, Ollie 1-6, best shooter on the floor that night was Doron at 7-16.

Legend has it he was hung over.

He was so eager to discuss UConn/Florida from last year. One of his favorite topics.
I had fun reading what was essentially a, "How could anybody get so upset about last year's Florida loss?" post, knowing it was just a matter of how many different people would say, "You make a great point, if that's what we were talking about, but it wasn't." I really liked how he asked, "Right?" in his first sentence, and then charged ahead, as though everyone had answered, "Well, yeah."

As to Mississippi State, it was a huge bummer of a loss, but I see it as due to Ricky Moore's injury, like Khalid limping against Tennessee, AJ in the San Diego game, and (though before the Tournament) the loss of Jerome in 2009.

The idea of someone saying their two worst losses were Florida and Mississippi State and a fan not immediately clocking that it was a reference to 94 and 96, respectively, is, to me, incredibly weird

I guess it depends how old you are. Since he joined the Boneyard in 2011 but didn't start prolifically posting until 2024, maybe he joined when he was a teenager but didn't start really posting with every thought of his until he was in his 20s and he became more opinionated. So he might not have even been alive in 1994 and 1996. Just a theory but who knows.

This UCF 14-3 pointers should be a good wake up call of what can happen in March - we can't make mistakes and need to demoralize teams early on.

Why bother? You seem to clamp on and just keep going. Please put me on ignore. Your whole value to this board is being a pimple.

Maybe, but it's the inclusion of Mississippi State that is the tell.

Funnily enough, I do have you on ignore, and yet your nonstop posting and accompanying nonsense is still unavoidable. Maybe it’s a “you” problem

UConn and Florida have such an interesting history for teams that have only met 8 times. UConn leads the series 6-2, but Florida has the edge in the tourney with a 2-1 record. The team that has won the game in the tourny the last 2 times has gone on to win the Natty.
wish we hadn’t blown the opportunity in 2008

UConn

WAB rank: 4
KenPom rank: 12
Record: 25-3 (15-2 Big East)
Chance at No. 1 seed: 88.2%

Entering Wednesday night's action, UConn is well ahead of the chase pack in WAB score but well behind the trio of Michigan, Duke and Arizona. In all likelihood, the fourth No. 1 seed is the best UConn can hope for, which means it would likely be stuck playing in the South Region over a more preferable spot such as the Midwest or East. While the Huskies are outside the top-10 at KenPom, that's a "predictive" metric. The selection committee is expected to more heavily weigh results-based metrics when making decisions for who to put on the No. 1 seed line. That's where UConn's solid WAB score -- bolstered by early-season victories over Illinois, Kansas and Florida -- comes into play.

I made those statements on the painful losses to miss st and Florida. It was in reference to someone else’s post about wins and losses in the tourney on or near the opponents home. Truth be told, my most painful loss was to Laettner in OT in the elite 8 in1990 or ‘91 but I watched Wes B, Bill Corley and Bob Stack play back in the field house. That should tell you something.

@HooperScooper what do we think is the updated percentage at a 1 seed now?

Let's pretend like we don't exist, we'd be better off. I have you on as well. I don't miss your posts, I'm sure you don't miss mine. Plenty of constructive thinkers here. Tootaloo.

We can get a 1 seed if we win out and get to the BE finals, perhaps even semifinal.

But if we’re a 2 we likely are the top 2 and cannot be in the top 1’s bracket. If Duke we won’t be in the East.

Kinda want to be a 2 in the Midwest (redo vs Illinois) or a 1 in the South.

Midwest is gonna be Michigan.
