Is it not amazing that Wes can take a fairly highly rated team pre-season...
-Have a disappointing early season
-But is standing at the end with a strong, well-coached team
that no one wants in their bracket.

Most all true Husky fans realize what this game means for our mental health. I watched and became a temporary fan of NC. Please tell me with a straight face that the results of the game didn't put a smile on your face or in your mind.
Thumbs up N.C. you deserve it, ND oh well..........may we meet again, it would be a great game #1?
NC State, please... there is a world of difference.

No

Three games that should open some eyes in the BY. Of course, ND losing to NC St is one. But the other two are USC unable to pull away from Illinois despite getting 9 blocks and 11 steals, and UCLA barely squeaking past Iowa. They’re both wins and that’s what matters. But I can’t help thinking that both opponents would be right at home in the Big East, and are roughly comparable to Creighton. I think if UConn could only escape Iowa with a 2 pt win people here would be in sack cloth and ash. A 10 pt win over Illinois is not so different from UConn’s earlier win over Creighton. But it is a pretty clear demonstration that USC is not on another level from UConn, and that early season loss to them was really as close as the final score suggested.

One last observation: the fact that Kate Koval gets less playing time than Jana these days means that Niele is going with a small lineup rather like Geno’s. UConn is in good company and is competitive with the best teams now.

Iowa is Massey #21, Creighton is #28, Illinois is #37

NET ratings are Iowa #29, Illinois #30, Creighton #31

People here have freaked out over 26 point road wins. A 2 point win would be ugly on the board

Can’t say I’m sad to see them lose. ND is scrappy, but NCSU can match that with their athelticism.

One things for sure, it’s gonna be weird to see Texas take No. 1 this week… considering they lost to ND.

Personally, I think it should be UCLA. They are being overly penalized for their loss to USC. Yes, they had a close game yesterday, but they won it and they only have one loss on the season.

They had a close game to an unranked team. If anything, that should keep them away from the No. 1 spot as well. Texas earns it fair and square this week.

We can agree to disagree on the foul but what I meant by bad timing is that it was Hidalgo’s 5th foul, so she was out of the game at a crucial moment

ND’s rebounding was not good in the OTs. Not a recipe for success
Great game. Lot's of toughness/grit displayed by both teams. All the guards on the floor came to play. ND just ran out of gas (and out of Hidalgo's playing time) in a hostile environment after 2 OTs.

This was one of the best games I’ve seen since the Elite 8 game in Bridgeport a few years ago that also involved NC State, with the opposite outcome, when UConn won in double OT. Just like yesterday, there were lots of lead changes, great plays and clutch shots on both sides.

Wes Moore is one of the very best coaches in WBB and Raleigh is one of the toughest places to play for any visiting team, as UConn learned a year ago.

Respectfully disagree…there was a lot of contact and Hildalgo took a huge chance being that aggressive.

I didn’t think the call really impacted the outcome of the game. ND wasn’t playing good team ball…way too much one on one. They need to integrate Citron (who I think is terrific) and Westbeld into the offensive better.
Never seen Westbeld as invisible as she was yesterday

With Westbeld and Karlan as a backup both healthy now Koval's playing time reduced..rightfuly so

Everyone talks about the other 4 of ND,,rightfully so but King is a rebounding machine..destroyed Uconn

Well, others would argue that the referee gave them yesterday’s win.

Worst loss we've had in many years.
It was certainly an unfortunate loss. But you don’t have to go back to far to find worse losses, like to unranked NC St just last year or to 21st ranked MD the year before or to unranked GT the year before that.

The Maryland loss doesn’t fall into the “bad loss” category for me. Nika was out and Ines had to play point (she was great!). Also sidelined were Paige, Azzi, Dorka, and Ice. Heck, the team was so shorthanded, Amari had to play 13 minutes. After the 7 point road loss to a ranked team, Geno said he’d never been prouder of a team and we Boneyarders were pretty proud of the Huskies’ efforts too

Hidalgo, when she is driving to the hoop, loves to throw herself into the defender nearest her and usually gets the beneficial whistle and goes to the line. Yesterday’s game was well officiated, and the refs didn’t automatically give her that call. I hope going forward they continue to let them play and not reward Hidalgo (or JuJu Watkins) for essentially charging into their defenders who have every right to be in their way.

ND is a rival and the #1 team.
So what. It doesn't belong here unless this forum starts talking about UCLA, USC, SC and more. It belongs on the General forum. Either this is UConn Boneyard our something else Nan.

“ unranked NC State” my buttocks. . NC State was a final four team. Snap shots of early season games are worthless.

I wonder how many of the top 10 have lengthy discussion on their boneyard forums about UConn to go on for so long like this OT loss (big deal) by ND. Either this forum stays with what it is supposed to be about - UCONN - or it will dissolve into anything and everything. I for one think allowing this dialogue to continue on this Boneyard forum for so long is wrong.

Tennessee is an "atypical" team, and it was an "atypical" loss for
UCONN. The Huskies deserved to lose that game.... but.... if
if lit some fire for improved grit and determination.... it could have been
worthwhile. Lose a game early to win late (at least I hope so!!)

Maybe the Boneyard is the wrong board for you.

I have no idea why you keep posting in a thread that doesn’t interest you

12 of State's FTs came in the final minute of regulation and the 2nd OT when ND was purposely fouling to try and come back. Outside of that the FT's were 14-10. Not the story of the game. State also leads the nation in fewest fouls per game. HH is notorious for being an aggressive defender and pressuring the ball and ND leads the nation in steals...probably means they are much more aggressive and foul more. State plays a much more soft style of defense and don't pressure the ball.

(u)NC and NC State are completely different schools. Nothing will chap the backside of a State fan more than someone confusing them with their hated rival UNC.

Curious why Wes Moore didn't tell players to foul at end of regulation. They had 2 to give with 5 secs left with a 3 point lead. Whittle down the clock and let ND have a true heave at the buzzer.
In the postgame Wes said they talked about fouling in the timeout and they "didn't get it done". So sort of implied James was supposed to foul there and didnt...
