There is no big man in the world outside of Jokic who could look even decent w/ a bad coach and no guards.
Reed has great size and close to elite feel -- sets good screens (could & will improve) and is a very, very good passer. Not a quick jumper so he's not an excellent finisher around the...
He is a lottery pick. Here’s a fun fact since clearly you know absolutely nothing about the nba: nikola jokic leads the NBA in post ups per game. The total? 8.2 per game. That’s it that’s number. The next highest total? Not even 6, his name is Embiid. This isn’t 1985 anymore, it’s a different...
Ive been hearing a lot on draftnik pods/articles that clingan is 'not good on offense'. I swear they must not be watching the games and how he impacts the offense; he is an incredible screener with great feel of when to flip screens. This is an underrated part of unlocking elite offense, see...
It's also a great way to showcase him for the league. Yeah, he's not shooting the 3s at volume yet, but he can make plays from the top of the key and in a couple years will be shooting 2-3 a game at a decent % if he keeps improving. He's developing the footwork and ability to make reads in an...
Thanks for headsup @aceboon . Had not seen that article nor do I subscribe to The Athletic-- Just an observation on my part and it makes sense after reading your post.
Good article in The Athletic from this week about how more college offenses are making the center the playmaking hub and how much Jokic has influenced the game. Clingan said he idolizes Jokic and studies his game.
“Being able to see over defenders, especially on backdoors or when teams are...
I saw him vs Princeton last weekend and was stunned when I looked him up to see he's 7' 255 lb and averaged 2 & 2 as a freshman. I assume he was either overweight or out of shape as a freshman.
His skill set is impressive and a perfect fit for us. He was dribbling behind his back, changing...
You’ve been reading too many Scappy Posts .
Larry Bird carried a lower mid major to a FF . . AK was the 3rd or 4th option on a very talented team .
He will probably be 2-3 this year . But If he stays three and is the number one option on a young team that he carries on his back to a great...
Clingan can’t do a single thing Jokic did in that video. Granted Clingan is like 4 inches taller, and built differently with his center of gravity way higher, so he can’t be as nimble as Jokic. I think he has longer arms and bigger hands too, so some of the over the back or around the shoulder...
Would love to see that come to fruition, but I’ve seen nothing that would cause me to compare him to Bird. Huge basketball I.Q.? Absolutely. But lots of guys have that. Bird was a stupendous one on one player who could get his own shot out of nothing. To date, Karaban gets his points out of...
Ok everyone here comes my player comparison. He is a 21st century version of Larry Bird. Maybe not as big but definitely more athletic and he is only going to become a better shooter and he is already very good. I think he will be a great shooter as his career continues. Bird had that shot where...
Yes, that has very little to do with the fact that stylistically people saw that he was a truly excellent passer and the best passing big in his draft as a 19 year old. The comment you replied to was saying that people saw the vision and playmaking as a prospect. They did. They didn't buy other...
I would simply like to see how much Clingan can actually pass when we ask him to do more of it in the offense before we completely throw the comp away. I don’t think it’ll be Jokic no look behind the back passes. But I think it will be 90+ percentile kind of passing from a center. And if he does...
I'm saying it's a terrible comparison because they play nothing alike. Jokic when he was in Serbia and a rookie played nothing like Clingan did his freshman season at UConn. They are totally different players in style, build, athleticism etc. It's an awful comparison.
That's the whole point of what a lot of us are saying. We're not saying Clingan can't be great in the NBA. We're saying he doesn't play like Jokic. Because he's not nearly the passer, which is Jokic's greatest strength.
Not sure the assist numbers really matter, but get back to me when Clingan is a starter playing more than a couple minutes at a time totaling something like 13 minutes per game.
I don't expect Clingan's assist numbers to improve much - he's a center. The fact Jokic's assist stats are high is...
I posted their literal on the court impact numbers, yet they don't support your insane argument so you ignore them. Go back to arguing Clingan is the next Jokic. Clown
He wasn't bad at assists. He averaged 4.4 ast per 40 compared to Clingan's 1.4 per 40. At the same age as Clingan, Jokic had 4.0 ast per 40 in the Adriatic League.
