Imagine this for a moment. Venus and Serena use a Grand Slam event as a tuneup for the Olympics; To sharpen their doubles partnership in defense of their Olympic gold medal(s).

Yes, definitely a fan of Serena and Venus the torchbearers of American tennis. A blowout is certainly easier on the nerves, but it is always nice to see a champion overcome challenges, adversity, a formidable opponent.

Serena, yesterday, beat a formidable opponent; An opponent she would not have beaten with less than her A game.
Venus and Serena, yesterday, beat a very good doubles team.
Both matches were quite enjoyable.
Is there anyone still willing to argue against Serena's status in the annals of tennis?

and she was "cool and polite"... except when coming out of the locker, grabbing her bag, enjoying the music blarring thru hear headphones lol, saying "damn these flowers" (she didnt actually say that)... taking her time while seated as the little girl anxiously waited to toss the coin. when Serena finally did get up she was swinging the hell outta that racket lol... funny but she was in a zone

Found this archived gem from 2007 when Ms Williams entered the Australian Open "out of shape".
The How-I-wish-I’d-Never-Said-that Award goes to…
This has to be one of my favorite tournament wins for Serena! The commentators then, bashed Serena soooo much, as soon as she got to Melbourne that year. They called her "out of shape" all the way up until the Quarterfinals. She was on a mission and made everyone eat some humble pie that year!
