OK, i figured a few things out here. According to the 016 Spring Roster
http://www.uconnhuskies.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/conn-m-footbl-mtt.html

Marriner is gone
Bockeloh is gone
Branford is gone
Bedell (walk-on LS) is gone.

Now, with the 3 scholly departures, we have (according to my spreadsheet, which has been proven wrong often) 85 Scholarship players.

The only thing i'm not 100% on is Richmond Williams. He's a walk-on correct ???

WOW...that was a massive undertaking

Branford?

Branford?

Now i feel like i'm losing my mind. I can't find him on any of the sites. I'm sure he committed here at some point, otherwise he wouldn't be on my list. He was a DB, i think his first name was Chris (?).

Probably decommitted and i forgot to take him off. Same as Hartwick.

2014 Class. Jalan -- committed but then was suppose to go to Fork Union Military Academy but I don't think he made it there or here.

Nice pick up on Marriner tho'

My guess:

I think they start out something like this:

LT: Richard Levy
LG: Thomas Hopkins
C: Ryan Crozier
RG: Trey Rutherford OR Brandon Vechery OR Daniel Oak
RT: Andreas Knappe

I think it will be a fight between those three for the last guard spot. I think the others at least at first are going to hold everyone else off based on experience and the fact that they progressed last year even if it was as much as everyone would have liked.

I think next up to get some time are:

The two not starting between Rutherford, Vech, and Oak.
LT: Matthew Peart (Rave reviews) I think he gets rotational time regardless but maybe starts on the two deep.
RT: Steve Hashemi
C/G: Kyle Bockeloh
Bockeloh is no longer on the roster and in respond to a later post, Lee is still listed at TE.

We are still a bit thin across the line and will need to keep adding recruits (and be prudent with those who are here).

Ian Campbell moved to O Line, interesting. If he can maintain athleticism while putting on weight, he can become a solid piece in a couple years. Surprised Lee hasn't been moved to tackle.

Thanks so much on Branford. I thought i had lost my mind and started dreaming up defensive backs

aside...Not shocked on Marriner, but a bit surprised.

BTW, Peart is up to 291 now. Not bad at all considering he was 20 lbs lighter coming in. I think this makes us all feel a bit better about him playing significant time this year.

He's obviously a hard worker. I think i understand now why the coaches are so high on him. Can't wait to see him out there.

I believe Peart will be a quality LT in time but it isn't a position someone can step into as a RS freshman and play at a high level. I believe he will see some time but more so for his development for when he does take over than that he would be better at LT than Levy in 2016. Also, we need to keep in mind that Diaco was saying the same things about Oak (as a center) in 2014 as he was saying about Peart last year. On this level BD seems to have some Jim Calhoun in him (I remember JC praising Justin Brown many years ago).

I don't have to point out the many, many True and RS freshman who have been excellent college starters at LT, do i?

Yea, its not the norm, but if his outcomes are better than Levy, put the kid in.

Had a feeling we'd lose one if the RBs on the current roster. Hope Marriner blows up whereever he ends up. Good player caught up in a numbers game on a rebuilding team

I have not included Almendinger, do we have a conclusion if he is on scholarship? For the moment I left Wain on on scholarship as well. I project 84 w/o Almendinger. I sure hope we can get an OL transfer after spring ball.

Don't know if I missed the thread on this one. But did everyone check out the updates to the roster?

Some interesting notes.

Ian Campbell moved to OL from TE.
Aaron Garland moved to SS from CB.
Connor Freeborn moved to LB from DE.?????? (Not sure that wasn't the case last year)
David Ryslik moved to DL from OL.....(Not sure about this one either....Might have been done last year or I had it wrong somehow)
Dallas Parker to DE from LB.
Brice McAllister to S from CB.
position is now being recognized by: Zordan Holman, Billy Williams.....(I assume when he gets here... Jay Rose too?)
Note also the TE still exists with Tommy Myers and Alec Bloom and Nicholas Lesander there.
I forgot all about Holman. I'll be interested to see what he can do at position. He was an interesting recruit with his background in martial arts I believe? Will be curious to see how he does. Also excited to see this F position in full force. Should be a good addition to our offense.

Obviously Peart should start over Levy if he is the better player. My concern is more with the fans (including some on this board) who assume he is already better. That would be highly unlikely.

If you have a minute I would love to see a list of freshmen (true & red shirt) who have excelled at LT, especially in offenses that will throw the ball on average at least twice in every five offensive (non punting) plays.

Wain is on scholarship. Not sure what is up with Almendinger. I thought he might be on scholly but that would put us over. Not that we can't trim down before Fall.

Okay, after correcting to add Peart, I'm at 85. This still assumes Almendinger is a PWO.

I've corrected a couple of positions as well. Of note, the Uconn 2016 spring roster has Ian Campbell on OL, Ryslik on DL (no change), Dallas Parker back to DL and Garland as a safety. One other comment, looks like we could get old fast at the CB position after 2016 with few pups.

While I like Peart, Rutherford, Hopkins and a few other putting on weight, I'm more concerned about their agility and foot work. Even last year's team was strong enough at the point. When the OLine squared up helmet to helmet they were decent. The problem was the number of times they were slow to the point or off balance.

Off balance and just not there...late to the point.

And while anything can happen and while I think anyone who can have a positive impact as a frosh should play, looking at the depth chart it seems the following people are very likely to redshirt this fall.

D. Williams, Dixon, Gilmartin, Garson, Brouse and Herring.

Its probably easier and more accurate to point out that Skanes, Rose, Zecchino and Vickers (special teams?) are likely to play as freshman.

Updated 85-man scholarship roster & depth chart (sorry for the small font)

There's no 'F' position available so I put those players under fullback along with Thompson who I couldn't squeeze in for RB:

Nice chart DoggPound!

It is however alarming that we can't even go a full three deep on our offensive line (the ideal situation is to be four deep everywhere when including kids who are redshirting). We unfortunately are still a couple of recruiting classes away from where we want to be here.
