Aaronson out now. I blame Greg. He had all these players thinking getting a draw at fng El Salvador is a big accomplishment.

Adams is on a yellow. I think he should sit out Mexico. Is anyone else on a yellow?

That draw plus Panama dropping 2 points at home against Honduras (yikes) means that we essentially can clinch a WC berth with a win on Sunday, as long as there are no wild goal differential swings with respect to Costa Rica.

A draw on Sunday ensures no worse than 4th (playoff) and also that we could clinch 3rd on Wednesday with merely a draw.

US gets a point at Azteca and Brazil destroys Chile at Maracana 4-0 to finish on top of CONMEBOL qualifying. Shoulda had a win against Mexico, but all in all a good night of futebol.

How in the world did Edson Álvarez manage to play the full 90? The ref went from being happy to handing out yellows for anything to forgetting where his cards were. Quite infuriating.

Ref also seemed quite inconsistent with regards to how much contact he would allow. Sometimes allowing lots of physical play and others whistling for the slightest contact.

Though, I will give him credit for the non-penalty calls, and particularly giving that horrible dive a yellow.

Striker situation was very disappointing, felt like we were playing with 10 men for long stretches. Though I think the Mexican defenders were allowed to be a lot more physical with our guys than we were with Jimenez.

Finally, what was up with the pitch? It seemed pretty terrible and both teams kept losing their footing.

Bottom line:
1) Win vs. Panama and draw @CR --> In
2) Draw all 3 matches --> In*
3) Draw Panama and CR --> Clinch 4th* at worst

*unless Panama/CR wins out with a +8 goal diff
Resurrecting scenarios after the last window, now updated for last night's results. Regardless of other results:

We guarantee 4th with:
1) Draw vs. Panama, OR
2) Draw @ Costa Rica*

We guarantee 3rd with:
1) Draw vs. Panama AND Draw @ Costa Rica, OR
2) Win vs. Panama*, OR
3) Win @ Costa Rica

*assuming Costa Rica cannot overcome a 7-goal GD deficit

At least CP got it on net. Pefok put his in the cheap seats.
Pefok's was so bad I couldn't tell if it was a shot attempt or pointlessly trying to pass back to Reyna for the tap-in.
