It's going to be a lot harder to win NC's with all of these top 10 players increasingly concentrated with 4 schools.

Coach K. will retire soon. Calipari who knows?

Besides, other than Duke, no one is racking up the championships.

For all of Kentucky's one-and-dones under Calipari, they only have 1 championship.

But the schools with 3-4 year guys like Butler did, will be a tough out every once in a while. UConn certainly doesn't want to be a player every 3-4 years only but no matter if they have JC or KO they wouldn't have been playing in the Top 10 all that much anyway, they don't have the league to make that happen.

Correction: they don't have the league that supports a high ranking with multiple losses. The recipe for a school like UConn now is recruit like crazy, have a high preseason ranking, win a few non-conference games, and dominate your league. Outside of Top 25 recruiting classes, UConn has done nothing else of the sort. UConn has had every opportunity to remain a top tier program. Their on court performance over the last 2 plus years is what is holding them back. Not the AAC.

Winning a national championship hurt UConn too!

Nope, but their 21-15 record in conference since then sure has.

It really hasn't. All people pay attention to are the rankings and the tournament. That is it. It hasn't harmed recruiting. The conference championship last year lead to the NCAAs. 3 years in, they have a national championship and a conference championship. People don't think UConn is in the top tier anymore (of 5 to 8 sch00ls) but that's a function of the conference. Most people outside the conference are not aware at all what UConn's record is in conference. They only know about the championship and because of the Jalen Adams' shot, the conference championship from last year.

KO is the 10th highest paid Mens NCAA basketball coach with bonus incentive (no worries he isn't seeing that). Not bad for a guy who cant figure out how to start a game.

I don't know who the next guy would be but I do know there is a bunch of better coaches on this list looking for a raise.

Are you speaking for all people now? The bottomline is for UConn to have a realistic shot of joining the P5, football must become competent and basketball must remain relevant. With each passing year, that "brand" recognition is becoming weaker, UConn's national relevancy is dwindling. You can say what ever you want, but having a 21-15 conference record the past two years, losing at home to the likes of Yale , Wagner and Northeastern, having games vs the P5 be over by the first tv timeout, etc. etc. does not help UConn's argument at all. If anything, its proving our naysayers to be more correct than we had hoped or liked. Fact is, if you step away from this board, if you speak to people from the national landscape or even the AAU circuit, UConn is already be spoken of quite differently. That much I know.

The coaches on that list that should be on our radar would be Archie Miller from Dayton, Larranaga from Miami(this is a longshot) and Greg Marshall from Wichita St, and add in a Kevin Willard maybe from the Hall. Let's hope that we turn the season around and more of this chatter wont be necessary because we don't need another athletic disaster on our hands. We already have the Diacalypse to worry about.

P.S. Steve Pikiell has Rutgers off to a 6-0 start. Best start for them in 40 years although the schedule has been kind to Pikiell.

KO is the man, end of discussion. We keep it in the family. No one else will care as much as KO does for UConn. He turned down the NBA multiple times. We are just in a tough time right now with a brand new team and multiple injuries. We will get through it. Just like last year everyone was complaining during the regular season and we end up winning the AAC tourney. Just like 2014 when we get swept by Louisville and blown out of the gym by them, yet we win it all. I trust KO and bleed blue with him through thick and thin.

Lol. So our best options are a guy that every high level P5 program would be interested in if they had a vacancy, a guy whose age would immediately be used to recruit against us and who could never be our long term coach, and a guy who already makes more than Ollie who has turned down multiple jobs to stay in his current position.

Not to mention none of those guys has shown they can recruit anywhere near the level Ollie does.

What conference realignment?

I speak to people about UConn all the time. They are not aware. All people follow is the tourney and the national rankings. They have no idea how UConn has done in the AAC.

Again, what people? Certainly not basketball people.

Sure, they don't know the specifics of our conference record, but the bad record keeps us out of the rankings, so it is obviously impacting us negatively.

This thread wasn't intended this way, but it's morphed into a monster of ridiculous proportions.

Please, stop speculating about coaches who are better served to lead this program. His coaching doubts aside, if people have them, he is nowhere near this level of discussion and scrutiny.

Some people need a reality check.

Some BY'ers are very quick to call someone a troll because they don't agree with that persons view point. Yes I'll agree it seems Ollie is a good recruiter (good enough for last three seasons to be ranked in the preseason), but if he can't coach the talent he brings in than whats the point?

Yes Ollie won a NC an I'll be forever gratefully to KO for that, but that doesn't mean myself or any fans should turn a blind eye to his awful coaching over the past 2+ years or take criticism we're not fans because we're giving our opinion (the reason the BY was created).

I hope KO proves me so wrong that I cant post on the BY without be reminded of my stupidity every time causing me to DELETE MY ACCOUNT which appears would make some people happy.

But through the first 6 games of the season that doesn't seem to likely.
